Together, they strengthen our mission to ensure healthier pregnancies, stronger families, and brighter beginnings throughout Hillsborough County.

Diana Santangelo, Community Foundation Tampa Bay, Director, Thrive By Five, sharing literacy resources with the Healthy Families team.

We’re excited to share the launch of a new literacy pilot program beginning this month through our Healthy Families Hillsborough program. This initiative, made possible by the generous support of PNC Bank and the Community Foundation Tampa Bay, brings early literacy directly to the families we serve.

Through this pilot, more than 450 families will receive children’s books, early literacy resources, and simple engagement tips they can use at home to build language skills, strengthen bonding, and support healthy development from the earliest years.

Together with our partners, we’re proud to take this next step in creating healthy starts and thriving futures

We are proud to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone for one of our long-standing partners, Wanda Philyor.

Wanda is celebrating 20 years with BayCare, and nearly 27 years within the Healthy Start system of care. Her journey began in 1999 with the Healthy Families Hillsborough program, and her dedication to supporting parents and babies has only deepened over the years.

Today, Wanda serves as a Healthy Start Program Family Resource Coordinator at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital, where she completes infant intakes, provides patient education, and connects families to helpful referrals and resources. Every day, she meets families at the very beginning of their parenting journey, offering guidance, reassurance, and compassion during life’s most meaningful moments.

Thank you, Wanda, for nearly three decades of service, heart, and unwavering commitment to giving families the healthiest start possible. Your legacy is felt in every family you touch 💗

Join us for our 2-day System of Care training, designed for public health students and professionals in family-serving organizations partnering with the Healthy Start Coalition of Hillsborough County.

The 2026 Legislative Session has begun and we're grateful for the continued support of the Healthy Start program throughout the state of Florida. The Florida Association of Healthy Start Coalitions (FAHSC) recently honored local Senator, Darryl Rouson, for championing babies and new parents through increased funding.

We wish our legislators a successful session that creates positive impact for families across our communities.
