Cheesecake for Shavuot

Sisterhood is happy to offer delicious whole cheesecakes or a variety pack of squares for you to purchase just in time for the festival of Shavuot which begins at sunset on Sunday, May 16. These awesome cheesecakes are baked lovingly by local Overland Park Kosher caterer, Cathy Levin of Kosher Connection.   In addition to getting cheesecake for yourself, family & friends, we are offering the opportunity to donate cheesecake squares to Jewish Family Services (JFS). It's a mitzvah to help others. Details are below.

Shavuot is a harvest holiday that also commemorates the giving of the Torah. It is customary to eat dairy foods like cheesecake and blintzes, along with listening to the Ten Commandments being read. Some say we eat dairy to symbolize “the land flowing with milk and honey" mentioned in the Torah. Another theory is that after the Torah was given on Mount Sinai, the Jews learned its laws and since their meat had not been prepared according to the Kosher laws, they ate dairy instead. Whatever the reason, we think it is a wonderful custom!

$15 Whole New York Style Plain 8" Cheesecake Delicious round cheesecake is rich and has a dense, smooth, and creamy consistency and a graham cracker crust. Serves 8-10. $8 Side of Strawberry Sauce This scrumptious cheesecake has no toppings, but you have the option of purchasing a side of strawberry sauce to pour over it!

$12 Variety pack of six Cheesecake Squares (2.5" x 2”) New York style with graham cracker crust. Variety pack consists of: 2 Plain 2 strawberry swirl 2 chocolate swirl This option is available to purchase for you to donate to Jewish Family Services (JFS)! The squares will be distributed to those families in need of a special treat.
