Kitchen Equipment Master Class


Sysco Hawaii Chef Jackie Lau presents a HCEF master class for professional chefs and cooks on Aug. 1.

In this half day workshop with Jackie Lau, you’ll learn how the latest kitchen products and equipment are evolving to meet the needs of the industry.
  
How kitchen technology can help with food cost, labor, consistency and execution.

Hands-on experience with a rational oven (combi oven) -- how to steam, grill, overnight roast and hold foods.

How to cook multiple foods simultaneously.

 How to maximize usage of a high-speed oven. Taste test foods to understand what products you can cook in the turbo oven for maximum success.

Chef Mentoring
HCEF concluded the academic year with a High School Culinary Teacher appreciation Zoom call.

HCEF shared gratitude with teachers from Maui, Kauai, Big Island and Oahu. Teachers received prizes, gift certificates from Chef mentor restaurants and culinary books.

Marriott Hawaii donated three multi-night packages: The Westin Resort & Spa Kaanapali, Maui; Marriott Waikoloa Beach and Marriott Waikiki Beach/Queensbreak restaurant.

Diwali Chef Vikram Garg

Join Chef Vikram Garg as he brings the flavors of Diwali – the festival of lights – to the islands by cooking his favorite Indian recipes at a special dining event on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022. The festivities take place for one night only at his signature restaurant, TBD… by Vikram Garg, located in the Lotus Honolulu on Oahu’s gold coast. It will be a night of exquisite flavors in a truly unique dining experience benefiting the Hawaii Culinary Education Foundation.
 
Tickets for the event are $300 inclusive with tables of 10 for $3,000 and may be purchased at Tickets

Garg is currently the Operating Partner for the Hospitality Division for The MacNaughton Group in Hawaii. For local foodies the Oct. 2 dinner will be an opportunity to enjoy fine Indian cuisine paired with wines donated by RNDC Hawaii.
 












Wine Business Master Class with Master Sommelier/Aloha Wine Foundation Chair Patrick Okubo. Professionals learned about costing, bottle / case sizes, conversions, and wine business terminology. In addition, Okubo led a wine tasting. Mahalo to ChefZone Executive Chef Chris Blanc for hosting.
