A Message from the Principal
Dear Cherokee Families,

Happy New Year and welcome to 2021!  Our staff worked hard this week to prepare for our return to in-person learning on Monday. We can’t wait to see students and are looking forward to replicating many of our positive experiences from the first trimester. As always, we are looking forward to continuing our strong partnership with families to ensure we have a smooth return to in-person learning. I have included several reminders about our return below.

Stay well,

Luke Livingston

Coming Weeks At-a-Glance:

  • January 11th ~ In-Person Learning Starts (Hybrid Students)
  • January 14th ~ District 67 All-Student Town Hall
  • January 18th ~ MLK Day - No School

Self-Certification:
  • Bookmark the self-certification link: Cherokee Student Self-Certification . It must be filled out the day of arrival, not the night before.
  • Cohort A - Complete by 7am
  • Cohort B - Complete by 11am
  • Please make sure you fill it out EVERY day, even if you child has symptoms. When we see this, will can follow up with you on why they are absent and how they can gain entrance back to school.
  • You will not need to present verification. We will have a list of students who have not passed or not completed the survey.
  • If you have not completed the survey PRIOR to arrival, you will need to park in the parking lot and come to Door A in order to have your child's symptom screening completed by the nurse.

Arrival/Dismissal Process:
If your dismissal plan has changed, please complete the dismissal form and send it to school with your child on Monday. Below are plans for arrival and dismissal for each cohort:

Quarantine & Work:
Due to the circumstances of the school year, students may be unable to attend in person for extended periods of time. In these cases, students should continue to access and attend the remote part of their day online, which includes synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences. Teachers will provide work for students to complete during the absence, and staff members will check in with students on a weekly basis to see how the students are doing and if they need any support. This said, please know that non-essential travel that results in the need to quarantine upon return is greatly discouraged, as it creates a loss of true instructional time for students and an additional workload on teachers and staff.

Parents of 3rd Graders - Math Update
