A Message from the Principal
Dear Cherokee Families,

We had another fantastic week at Cherokee. One highlight was the installation of our new communication board near the playground. This is a wonderful addition to our school community as we highlight our inclusive practices and provide opportunities for all students to be able to engage and be included in every aspect of our school.

I also want to remind you that we will not have school on Monday because it is a holiday and Tuesday is a remote learning day. Teachers will be sending home work and communicating through SeeSaw and email on expectations. Lastly, conference sign-up goes out this week so make sure you follow directions linked below.

Enjoy the long weekend!

Remote Learning Day Reminder:
Just a reminder that all students will have remote, asynchronous instruction on Tuesday, October 13. This is the first of our monthly CII (Continuous Improvement Initiative) days, during which there will be no in-person or live synchronous instruction in order to allow teachers to engage in collaboration, professional learning, and data review. All instruction - including core classes, specials/encore classes, and small group/individual support - will be remote and asynchronous, meaning that students will complete the work independently.

Conference Sign-Up:
Use this link to book time with your teachers on Thursday - Oct. 22, or Friday- Oct. 23. Once you have reserved your 15-minute appointment the teachers will be inviting you to MEET with them (from your child's device) for a virtual conference. The parent-teacher conference will happen on your child's device in the MEET app.

Feedback from Families:
We are soliciting feedback from staff and families about the Hybrid In-Person experience. Results will be shared out at the school level as well as with the Board. Please complete the Hybrid In-Person Family Survey by Tuesday, October 13. Your feedback will help us evaluate what is working and which areas can be improved. Surveys are anonymous.

Alliance Partnership:
We are thrilled to announce that our kindergarten and preschool programs in District 67 are partnering with The Alliance for Early Childhood to bring more resources and focus on early childhood to the district. Our mission in District 67 is to empower students and help students develop a better sense of self, and we are looking forward to collaborating with The Alliance for Early Childhood to better support students, staff, and families. You can learn more here: https://conta.cc/36K6Xzj

For those families who would like to participate in decorating your home, please fill out the google form here (Spook Your Space Entry Form). Your home would then be put on a map for those to drive by and see! We ask you to fill this out and confirm with us by Friday, October 16th, so we have time to prepare the route.
