WELCOME TO THE CHERRIOTS TRIP CHOICE NAVIGATOR
SUMMER - 2018
The Cherriots Trip Choice mission is to empower people to navigate their communities in ways that improve livability and quality of life. We do this by providing information about making healthy transportation choices and encouraging the use of carpooling, vanpooling, walking, bicycling, and using public transportation.
EXERCISE AND FRESH AIR
When new transit operator Keith Spreadbury learned that Cherriots offers bike lockers, he pulled his bike out of the back corner of his garage, aired up the tires, and started a new routine. Keith takes advantage of his split shifts to get exercise and fresh air. He keeps his bike in a bike locker at Courthouse Square and gets an adventure in before beginning the second half of his shift. He often rides his bike through downtown and over the Union Street Railroad Bridge to his gym to work out or he may cruise to the park to play some Frisbee golf. Keith says that his afternoon bike trips give him something to look forward to and have added a new dimension to his workday and his life.

Do you or someone you know enjoy the benefits of choosing a form of transport other than driving alone?

CHERRIOTS LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE
Cherriots has launched a new website which makes it much easier to find important information, including routes, fares, and an easy to use trip planner.

If you haven't had a chance to go try it out, here are some of the new features:

  • Better organization of information: We’ve completely reorganized the content so that everything is accessible with only a couple of clicks. The search capability is also much more robust, making it easier than ever to find what you’re looking for.

  • New Trip Planner: The old Trip Planner lacked features and was sometimes unreliable. Our new Trip Planner connects to Google Maps, the industry standard that's filled with features to help you find the best way to get to your destination.

  • New interactive System Map: We’ve developed a new system map that is completely interactive, showing routes and stops with ease. It’s the only one of its kind that we’ve been able to find among transit websites.

  • New alerts subscription service: Our alerts are now issued as system wide, route-specific, or stop-specific. You can sign up to receive these alerts in your email inbox or by text notifications. Subscribe to alerts on your specific route and stop, and you’ll be the first to know if there’s a change in service right on your phone.
SAFE CYCLING TIP: AVOID LEAPFROGGING
Transit operators are trained to avoid leapfrogging around people riding bikes. Bicyclists should attempt to do the same. If you can't stay ahead of a bus, stay behind the bus while the operator picks up passengers and allow the bus to get ahead of you. Never pass a bus on the right and try to stay visible to the driver at all times.
CHERRIOTS CONTINUES TO IMPROVE SERVICE
Cherriots routes and schedules have been adjusted to better serve our riders. These adjustments include easier transfers at Chemeketa Community College and more frequent service in southeast Salem.

Changes at Chemeketa Community College
In order to help facilitate transfers at Chemeketa Community College, there is a new bay on the south side of Satter Drive near the intersection with Cooley Drive. Routes 3, 12, and 13 will be rerouted to serve this bay. This new bay, named Bay E, will be about 400 feet away from Bays A through D, where Routes 2, 11, 10X, and 20X serve riders today. This will make it much easier to transfer between routes.

Other service changes
Routes, 4, 6, 7, 11, and all of the Cherriots regional routes have has some minor changes that can be viewed by clicking here.
