2025 Credit Union Cherry Blossom Capitol Hill Competition Registration Opens January 31, 2025

No Need to Enter the General Lottery

Dear Past Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run Capitol Hill Competition Entrants and 2025 Prospective New Capitol Hill Competition Entrants:

I wanted to send you a quick email to let you know that the Capitol Hill Competition will once again be a part of the 2025 Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile, 5K and Double Blossom, thanks to the generous support of the Congressional Federal Credit Union, the United States Senate Federal Credit Union, and America's Credit Unions. So circle your calendars, start training (at least right after the holidays), and start organizing your teams.

Like the 2024 event, in 2025 we will have races over two days: The 5K will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, and the 10 Mile will occur on Sunday, April 6, 2025. The Double Blossom involves the combination of those two races - running the 5K on Saturday and the 10 Mile on Sunday. There will be a Capitol Hill Competition in all three events.

CAPITOL HILL COMPETITION

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Do Not Enter the 10 Mile or Double Blossom Lottery (runs December 1-15) or the 5K Registration (starting December 20) if You Are Participating in the Capitol Hill Competition

Capitol Hill Competition entrants should NOT enter the 10 Mile or Double Blossom Lottery opening on December 1, or register for the 5K once 5K registration opens on December 20. It is possible you may hear from friends and other runners (or you may receive an email reminder) that general registration for the 10 Mile entry and Double Blossom lottery process is opening on December 1, 2024. This is true for non-Hill registrants. However, if you are still employed on the Hill and will be running as an individual or on a Hill Team (in either the Senate, House, or Hill Agency divisions), DO NOT enter the 10 Mile or Double Blossom lottery or the general 5K registration. You will be sent race entry details in late January 2025 regarding the Capitol Hill registration process, which opens on January 31, 2025, for Congressional staffers.

Online registration for Capitol Hill entrants (teams and individuals in the 10 Mile and individuals in the Double Blossom and 5K) will open on Friday, January 31, 2025 and will remain open through 11:59 pm on Friday, February 28, 2025. We will send you a reminder in late January, shortly before the opening date.

Capitol Hill Team Competition

The Capitol Hill Team Competition is for Congressional staffers only. There are Divisions for Senate, House and Agency staffers, which includes Military staffers assigned to Hill offices, as well as groups like Capitol Police, Library of Congress, Architect of the Capitol, etc. Interns are eligible. The only non-Hill employees allowed on teams are the spouse or other family members of a Member of Congress on either the House or Senate side.

Course Time Limit

All participants in this year's 10 Mile must be able to complete the distance in less than 2 hours and 20 minutes (net time), a 14-minute-per-mile pace. Please enter the 5K if you wish to participate at a more leisurely pace. The 5K time limit is 75 minutes (about 24 minutes-per-mile pace). You will be able to select an option to participate in the 5K during the Capitol Hill Registration process. There is no team competition in the 5K.

Packet Pick-up

Thanks to the Congressional Federal Credit Union and the United States Senate Federal Credit Union, we will have a private packet pick-up for Capitol Hill individual runners and Capitol Hill team members. Details will be sent later about the specific location and pick-up times.
