Helen of Troy Acquires Curlsmith Prestige Hair Care Products
Helen of Troy (Nasdaq: HELE), a leading global consumer products company with brands such as Hydro Flask, Braun, Vicks, and Osprey, agreed to acquire Recipe Products, a U.K.-based maker of hair care brand Curlsmith and backed by BFG Partners, for $150 million. The purchase price implies a pre-synergy multiple of less than 10x 2022E adjusted EBITDA. Founded in 2017, Curlsmith immediately becomes the most profitable brand in Helen of Troy’s portfolio, further augmenting Beauty segment’s adjusted operating margin, which is already the highest in the Company

Natural Hair Care Brand Briogeo Acquired by Wella Company
Wella Company, which was spun off from former parent Coty last year and is now under the ownership of private equity firm KKR, acquired hair care brand Briogeo for an undisclosed sum. The addition of Briogeo, which was founded in 2013 by Nancy Twine and one of the fastest growing hair care brands globally, to its portfolio of prestige hair care complements Wella Company's ambitions to deliver more diverse products for all hair types, while expanding clean and green products across its offerings.

Outdoor Living Supply Acquires Back Yard Living
Rochester, MN-based Outdoor Living Supply, a distribution platform for outdoor living products with a focus on hardscapes, acquired Back Yard Living, an independent distributor of decorative hardscape, paving stones, fireplaces, outdoor appliances, and outdoor lighting. The acquisition extends the Outdoor Living Supply’s platform further into the Northeast and provides additional expertise in the outdoor living products industry. This transaction is the fifth such deal since PE-firm Trilantic North America invested in the business in 2020.

The Honest Kitchen, a San Diego maker of human-grade pet food, announced a $150 million minority investment from Monarch Alternative Capital, a leading investment firm with $9.5 million AUM, to boost manufacturing, marketing, product development and sustainability initiatives. London-based PE firm CapVest has acquired Second Nature Brands, a Michigan-based creator of premium, nutritional and better for you snacks and treats, from Palladium Equity Partners for an undisclosed amount. The Company’s brands include Kar’s Nuts (#1 branded trail mix), Second Nature Snacks, and Sanders Chocolates. Palladium originally invested in the business in 2017 and recently changed its corporate name to Second Nature Brands from Kar’s Nuts to reflect its “better-for-you” portfolio of brands.

Elvisridge Capital, a PE firm based in Cleveland, OH, announced it had acquired Glacier Glove, a manufacturer of gloves and other apparel for the fishing and hunting industries headquartered in Reno, Nevada, for an undisclosed price. Glacier will now join Elvisridge Capital’s other fishing-related brands, Blackfin Rods and BBS (FINS Fishing), a fishing line manufacturer.
