HAPPENING AT CCM!

NOVEMBER 1 -30

These activities will be available all month, free to members and free with museum admission.

SHARE A PICTURE BOOK ABOUT LOSS: Use picture books from Anne Arundel County Public Library to open discussion with your children about death and bereavement.

MAKE A MEMORY BOX: Honor the loss of a family member, friend, or beloved pet by making a memory box dedicated to them.

MAKE A "CALM DOWN JAR" aka glitter jar: When your feelings are all mixed up, you can shake the jar, and as the glitter settles to the bottom, let your emotions settle themselves, too.

THE LETTING GO TREE: Ongoing community art project about letting go - of grief, of anger, of remorse... with our individual "leaves" to hang on a tree in the park.

Crystal Lynch will lead a conversation about what it means to "let go" on Wednesday, November 18, 4-5 pm. There is no charge for this.

REGISTER HERE.

The activities are supported by a grant from New York Life Foundation through Association of Children’s Museums.

Grief is not only real in childhood, but healing is possible—especially when it is supported in a children's museum where children feel safe, known, and free to play.

NEW FACES at CCM

We are happy to introduce some new team members. Patti Soderberg comes as a Senior Aid from CWI Works - Powering Opportunity. Miss Patti was formerly a librarian, enjoying story times with little ones, and before that a nurse in the Peace Corps!

Levi Kenny and Mirah (me-ra) Johnson are Maryland Service Corps Members and will be assisting us with work in and around the museum and in the community.

Mirah enjoys creative expression as well as working with children. She appreciates that experience teaches patience!

Levi enjoys fix-up projects and on his first day replaced the benches on one of the picnic tables. He's seen here replacing a worn out step on the trail.

Be sure to say, "Hi!" when you see our new helpers!

Volunteers of all ages are welcome at CCM!

Exhibits - cleaning, repairing, mending

Grounds - trail maintenance, plant care

Events - at CCM & in the community

Parents, your children are welcome to accompany you when you volunteer!
