Did you know...?
Content & Document created by Western Occupational Therapy Students Monika C., Melody D., Prabhleen P., Emma R. and Jeffrey Trudelle
Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness is a quality that every human being already possesses, it’s not something you have to conjure up, you just have to learn how to access it” (Mindful, 2020). By practicing mindfulness strategies, it supports people in decreasing stress and feelings of depression, increasing acceptance and many other benefits, such as lowering individuals’ blood pressure (Ponte Márquez et al., 2019).
