Dear St. Michael Community,

Everyone here at St. Michael the Archangel Chesterton Academy would like to extend their warmest gratitude for the support that has been shown to this project over the past few years. It has been truly wonderful to see the transition from a future or hypothetical concept to a very real and tangible school.

As freshmen, the students are diving into a rich and integrated curriculum. The focus is related to the ancient world. The students dove into Greek mythology over the summer and are currently reading the work of Homer. Ancient Greece plays a major role in other courses as philosophy is focused on early philosophers and introduces Plato and Aristotle. Euclid heavily influences the content of our geometry course, and history covers Greece, Rome, and the other early civilizations. The Old Testament is the focus of Theology allowing students to connect the ancient world to our faith.

The students and faculty also have the privilege to actively start developing the traditions of our new high school! On the first day of school, the students were separated into the four Houses. These community-focused Houses are dedicated to four early Church fathers (Ambrose, Athanasius, Augustine, and Chrysostom). The students will participate in weekly House activities focused on community, faith formation, and service. The students will also compete with each other in various events to foster a sense of comradery and healthy competition. With only a freshman class, the Houses are paired up this year and working together. House Ambrose and House Augustine are working together as the West and House Athanasius and House Chrysostom form the East. In our first competition, students and faculty competed in minute-to-win-it challenges. The East came out victorious! On August 28, House Augustine was able to start the tradition of celebrating their saint's feast day. House Chrysostom will be able to continue this new tradition as their saint's feast day is on September 13.

Each day, we are thrilled to be here working with our students as a faculty. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. We are also excited to be able to look to the future. With our admission window opening, please continue to spread the good word within the community as we hope to continue this positive growth!

God bless,

Italy Pilgrimage

One incredible opportunity for our academy is the ability to participate with the Chesterton School Network in pilgrimage to Italy. While it is still a couple of years away for our school, it is certainly something to look forward to!
