Taproot Puree October

Chestnut Hill Farmers' Market

Saturday, October 21st Hours: 9 am-12 noon

PANTRY ALERT!

Two Saturdays ago, Taproot Farm's tomato puree hit the stands, and those familiar with this product from previous years did a little happy dance. Sweet and thick, from of course Taproot's very own tomatoes, you can season this puree however you like.

It is limited only by your culinary imagination!

Over at Rineer Family Farms you will find plenty more delicious and fun farm-in-a-jar products. To name just a few: blueberry preserves, red raspberry preserves, a variety of pickles, Concord grape juice, hot salsa, and how's this for fun...peach jalapeño preserves!

Yes, we are dazzled by the piles of fresh collards, and cauliflower, sweet potatoes, and more, but don't overlook

our farmers' pantry delights.

All of our produce vendors accept the Farmers' Market Nutrition Program checks. And Taproot Farm additionally accepts SNAP/EBT.

This week's rotating vendors are:

Dressler Estate

Award-winning dry, wine-like ciders

made exclusively with local apples. Check out their Instagram @dresslerestate for great pics of them working in the orchard.

(3rd Saturday)

Haven Farmstead

Artisanal cheese crafted using high-quality, grass-fed, local milk.

Last November, food columnist Craig Laban wrote a delectable review just about Haven Farmstead's OK Bloomer. But all of Haven Farmstead's cheese is so good.

(1st, 3rd, 5th Saturdays)

Mediterra Olive Oil

Olive oil, vinegar, and other Mediterranean items. Treat yourself to a bottle of their ultra-high polyphenol organic olive oil. Yes, it's extra good for you but, also, its aroma will make you swoon.

(3rd Saturday)

Phyllodelphia

Greek food! Among other things, they are super popular for their (special family recipe) spanakopita. One customer gushed this praise: "It's just amazing. Everything just comes together with it. I've never had spanakopita as good as this." Link to a mouthwatering photo here.

And, for those who've been enjoying their apple pie phyllo triangles, or who are curious to try, this is the last week they'll be available.

They keep for six months in the freezer, so you can enjoy them whenever you get a craving.

(1st, 3rd, 5th Saturdays)

Small World Seafood

Sign up for their engaging, informative newsletter where you can also pre-order. This week, among other items, the newsletter mentioned fresh halibut from Nova Scotia, Hiddenfjord Faroe Island salmon, mussels, and littleneck clams.

(alternating Saturdays)

The Pasta Lab

The best! Each of their products contain a generous portion of freshly-milled local grain. And they source their vegetables, dairy, eggs, and meat from local producers–including our very own Taproot Farm!

(1st, 3rd Saturdays)

Our vendors who attend weekly: Canter Hill Farm, Fahnestock Fruit Farm, Liberty Plants, Partners Creating Community, Primordia Mushroom Farm, Rineer Family Farms, Taproot Farm.

The Chestnut Hill Farmers' Market is looking for

a new Market Manager

Living in the area, knowledge of our market, and good visual-spatial skills, are all a plus, but not required. An ability to commit to working most Saturday mornings (8am until 12:30pm) is essential. There is also some very light remote administrative work during the week.

Those interested should email Julie@farmtocity.org
