Chez News: March 2022
March 2022

March blew in with a robust Registration Day, busy days of planning for the Chez Nous Benefit (to be held on March 19th), and an inspiring Ash Wednesday Liturgy. Notre Dame is thrilled to be able to hold events like these in person after two years of virtual gatherings because of the pandemic. We are also delighted to make mask wearing optional in our school while still diligently screening our community for symptoms and providing regular COVID testing for all students, faculty, and staff.
In-Person Registration Day for the Class of 2026!

ND Principal Karina Vargas and Director of Admissions Jacqueline Governale greet our newest students and family members!
Notre Dame was delighted to be able to hold Registration Day for the Class of '26 on March 3rd in person this year, after two years of online registration because of the pandemic. This year new Director of Admissions, Jacqueline Governale assembled a full staff of faculty members and student representatives to greet our newest community members in the Dolan Center. Incoming students turned in medical and vaccination records and tuition deposits. They had a chance to discuss language course preferences with members of our World Language teaching staff, sign up for summer camp, purchase ND sweatshirts and other merchandise, and cap off the afternoon with a fun selfie! We're proud to report a full house for the dynamic Class of 2026 and can't wait to welcome them back for Uniform Measurement Day in early May!

Chez Nous Benefit Preparations in Full Swing!

Heartfelt thanks to our many parent and caregiver volunteers and those who generously donated prizes, bought tables, tickets, and chance books in support of the Notre Dame's Chez Nous Benefit! The event is spearheaded by staff members Beth Bixenman and Ruthie Landry, who have been working tirelessly for weeks, along with the help of the entire development team. It is our school's only major fundraising event each year, and proceeds go directly to our scholarship and financial aid programs, so that a Notre Dame education is accessible to all. As you can see, the event takes many hands, but everyone seems to enjoy the process. Hope to see you at Chelsea Piers on March 19th!

Celebrating Ash Wednesday As a Community
The school community came together for a wonderful Ash Wednesday liturgy on March 2nd. Sr. Mary Dolan, SU planned this meaningful Mass, with the help of TLC (The Liturgy Club) and theology teacher Ms. Crimmins. Our celebrant, Fr. Jim McDermott, SJ, helped us to find the joy in the Lenten season. Our Schola, under the direction of Music Director Nicole Wakabayashi, contributed beauty through song to this inspiring service.
