Our Mission: "Multiplying Leaders, Ministries and Healthy Churches"
"One person considers one day more sacred than another, another person considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind." (Romans 14:5)

The church as we have known it in the United States is changing. You see it, you feel it, you pray about it. Your church leaders come together to talk about it. The fact is, the church will have to continue to change if we are to make a great impact within the diverse communities and cultures found in the greater Chicago area.
Our Board of General Superintendents have wisely defined a church as "any group that meets regularly for spiritual nurture, worship, or instruction, with an identified leader and is aligned with the message and mission of the Church." Out of this definition of the church comes four things: 1) worship, 2) community, 3)accountability and 4) mission.
Notice here, the church does not have to have a building. It does not have to have a clergy pastor. It can be led by a lay pastor who we provide with theological education.  It does not have to be a mega church. It does not have to just worship on Sunday. It can worship other days of the week.
Paul says in Romans 14:5, "One person considers one day more sacred than another, another person considers every day alike...." Here, Paul gives us permission to worship and lead people to Christ every day of the week, not just on Sunday! As we go, God will open spiritual doors.

Thank you for serving so well on the Chicago Central District and for being Christ in Action. You are loved.

Dr. Larry McKain, Superintendent
Chicago Central District
Church of the Nazarene

Our final Pastors on Purpose (POPS) for the 2018-2019 season will be on Thursday, May 2nd at Kankakee First Church from 9:00 - 11:30. Dr. Jeff Stark and Dr. Larry McKain will
follow up on our District Assembly and discuss how we can be identifying God's Open Doors as we enter the summer months.

All pastors should plan to join us for a time of learning and fellowship together!

Come join other leaders from local churches at the Organic Outreach Training on Thursday, May 30 from 9 - 3 at the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church. Together, we'll join hearts and minds for a day of inspiration, fun, collaboration and practical insights. Organic Outreach for Churches Training provides direction for congregations to weave the gospel-focused passion and practice into the very DNA of church life. Organic outreach happens when evangelistic vision and action become the domain of every ministry in a church and the commitment of every person in a congregation.

Registration can be completed here. Any Nazarenes wanting to attend can enter the code NAZ for a $20 discount. Contact for more information.

It was a great Sunday at Naperville Trinity with Pastor Steve and Caley Spangenberg and their staff.

The church board of Highland Park Spanish voted unanimously to affirm the leadership of Pastor Israel Ramirez and his wife Gladys for the coming 4 years.

Pastor Nasa Nuudel and his wife Nara brought two students from our new Antioch Mongolian Christian Church for a campus visit to Olivet this week.

Thank you to all who are praying for Andres and Carolina. They spoke at our Elgin church this past Sunday and invited all of the people they have met so far from Columbia. They have 14 people who attended an expressed interest in helping them begin the church!

Update from the Marklund family: Sammy's heart surgery has been scheduled for this Tuesday, April 23. It may happen sooner because of a slight deterioration in his condition. Prayers appreciated!

C ontinued prayers are needed for Bill and Rora Luttrell's daughter, Robyn.  Please pray for the strengthening of Robyn's immune system. Her heart issues have lowered her immunity to many infections.

We would love to hear any prayer requests or celebrations from our district pastors to include in our weekly communications. Please email us so we can lift each other up!
