Nominate for the 2025 Climate Champion Award at

the Chicago Innovation Awards

All organizations in the Chicago region that are combating climate change through new products and services are eligible to nominate by July 31st.

We're proud to honor the Climate Champion Award winners for

their longstanding commitment to sustainability:

LanzaJet, Friends of the Chicago River, Intellihot, REUSO.

2024 Climate Champion Award Winner

LanzaJet is paving the way for cleaner air travel through sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production. LanzaJet’s ethanol-to-SAF technology transforms ethanol from renewable and waste-based sources into jet fuel that is compatible with current aircraft and infrastructure.

2023 Climate Champion Award Winners

The Natural Solutions Tool is a user-friendly mapping portal developed with local data by local experts, with 84 customizable public health, biodiversity, stormwater, equity, and connectivity GIS layers for nearly 1.5 million parcels in 176 communities that cover the Chicago River, Calumet River, and Des Plaines River watersheds.

Intellihot’s Electron Series is the world’s first tankless heat pump water heater. It absorbs heat from ambient air and uses that to heat hundreds of gallons of water without a storage tank.

2022 Climate Champion Award Winners

Over 22 million pounds of single use plastic entered the Great Lakes in 2020 alone. REUSO reduces this waste through its reusable packaging platform, which empowers large volume food and beverage operators to serve meals in returnable cups and containers that can be commercially washed and then reused hundreds of times.
