Join us this year as we visit Israel!
As COVID has relaxed and society is returning to normal, how about joining Chicago Loop Synagogue on a custom trip to Israel?

Right now we’re developing an itinerary, pricing and dates, and we’re looking for interested people who might want to go. If we band together as a congregation, we can get discounts on hotels and tours, plus upgrades on a lot of our events. Let us know if you’re interested and we can make it work!

Come explore Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and more with us. If you have any interest, please contact us by clicking here.
RSVP's are required for all minyanim. To RSVP, click here.

An update on COVID policies for Chicago
Loop Synagogue

In accordance with city and state guidelines, our Covid policies are:

  • Reservations must be made to attend minyanim. Please email Cary to reserve your place at [email protected].
  • Any out of town visitor must show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test that has been taken within the prior 72 hours.
  • Mask wearing is optional

We will evaluate these policies on a regular basis and thank you for your continued support.
This week, our members received notice of
three new programs!

If you didn’t get it, maybe you’re not a member. Why?

To make it easier for everyone to find the information they need, we are sending nonmembers a free abbreviated ebulletin focused exclusively on Loop events. If you want to keep up with what’s going on in the larger community by receiving our full eblast, simply join us today by clicking here!
Vilt ir Lernen Yiddish is ready for you to join us!

Weekly Classes

Beginners Class with Congregation Beth Shalom Wednesdays at 3:30 PM
Advanced Class at 1:00 PM on Thursdays
We are proud to announce that we have continued our “Vilt Ir Lernen Yiddish” courses in 2022.

New sessions will begin in April. The cost for the new semester (8 classes) is $100. Click here to register.

Instructor: Gela Altman -- Gela was born in Cuba to Jewish parents of Polish descent. They wanted her and her sisters to become literate in Yiddish, and thus began Gela's love affair with our wonderful ancestral language. She attended Hebrew/Yiddish school until the age of 12, where she studied and perfected Yiddish and Spanish.

After leaving Cuba in 1961, she finished high school and college, receiving her MSW in Clinical Social Work from Loyola University. Since retiring in 2014, Gela has been teaching Yiddish.

Class requirements:

  • Attend class regularly
  • Practice a little bit of Yiddish each day (light homework)
  • Purchase the textbook -- Colloquial Yiddish by Lily Kahn (Click here to purchase on Amazon).
