Lincoln Avenue Resurfacing Update
As I reported in last week's newsletter , Lincoln Avenue is being resurfaced this fall. Due to the wet weather conditions we have been experiencing, the start date for construction on Lincoln Avenue has been revised. Both phase 1 and phase 2 of the Lincoln Avenue resurfacing will begin on Monday, October 13th.

Dear Friends,
It's hard to believe October is already here! As a reminder, today is the last day to register to vote for November's election. However, if you are not registered by today, you can still participate during Grace Period registration:
From October 8 through October 19, you can register to vote, and vote immediately, at the Chicago Election Board, 69 W. Washington. Hours are 9-5, Monday through Saturday, and 9-3 on Sunday.
From Oct. 20 through Nov. 1, all 51 Early Voting sites will be open for Grace Period registration. That is, you can register to vote, and vote, right here in the 43rd Ward. Our Early Voting site is the Lincoln Park Library, 1150 W. Fullerton (but note, this site will be closed on Sunday).
Visit www.chicagoelections.com for more details.

Chicago Marathon Street Closures
The 37th running of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon takes place on Sunday, October 12th. As you know, the Chicago Marathon will involve extensive street closures throughout the City.
If you live on one of the streets along the marathon route, you must move your vehicle to another location off the course by Saturday, October 11. Towing of vehicles that have not been removed will begin at 1 a.m. on Sunday, October 12. In and around the 43rd Ward, these locations include the following, however, please be on the lookout for 'No Parking' signage in your neighborhood.
- LaSalle St. from Jackson Blvd. to Stockton Dr.
- Clark St. from Diversey Pkwy. to Webster Ave.
- Webster Ave. from Clark St. to Sedgwick St.
- North Ave. from Sedgwick St. to Wells St.
Street closures along the route will occur between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. City streets will re-open promptly as the final runners pass through. The Chicago Police Department will be responsible for closing and re-opening streets and will do so in a manner ensuring runner and spectator safety.
Good luck to all the runners! |
Stockton Drive Pedestrian Underpasses
I'm pleased to report the City of Chicago's Department of Transportation has completed the rehabilitation of two of the pedestrian tunnels under Stockton Drive located at 2600 N. Lakeview Avenue and 2250 N. Lincoln Park West.
The underpasses are 90 year old concrete structures with a fascia stone masonry wall at each end and presented several areas of deterioration that were in dire need of restoration.
The third underpass at 2050 N. Lincoln Park West is still under restoration and will remain closed until rehabilitation is completed.
Thank you to pedestrians and cyclists for your patience as much-needed repairs are completed to the Stockton Drive underpasses!
