AHAI ANNUAL MEETING
ANNUAL MEETING UPDATED:
AHAI ASKED & YOU RESPONDED
AHAI conducted an Annual Meeting survey of board members throughout the state and at all levels with 144 responses (25%). Thank you, your feedback was heard and invaluable in planning this year's Annual Meeting. We are excited for the changes we have made to provide all of the attendees a meaningful and informative day. More details to follow but for now:
 
The 2016 Annual Meeting of the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois, Inc. (AHAI) will take place on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. at the Woodfield Hyatt Hotel located in Schaumburg, Illinois.
 
Any individual who wishes to submit their name as a candidate for the position as a Board of Director of AHAI must submit their name, in writing, to the Chairperson of the Nominating Committee, Gregg Chudacoff ( [email protected] ) no later than Saturday, April 22, 2017. A short biography stating the individual's background, hockey experience, etc. should be included.
 
The Nominating Committee will then send to each team a list of all the candidates and their biographies prior to the AHAI Annual Meeting in accordance with the By-Laws, Rules and Regulations.
 
Any individual who wishes to submit a new By-Law proposal or change to an existing By-Law must submit their proposal(s), in writing, to the President of AHAI, John Dunne ( [email protected]) , no later than Thursday, May 4, 2017.

The 13th annual Toyota-USA Hockey Disabled Hockey Festival took place April 6-9, 2017, in San Jose, California and featured 63 teams and 780 players. The largest disabled event of its kind, the festival continues to grow and this year's event encompassed divisions for four disabled hockey disciplines: blind hockey, sled hockey, special hockey and warrior/standing hockey.

Congratulations to the Pepsi Ice Center! They have been selected as one of the Top 10 Finalists for the Kraft Hockeyville USA competition! First round voting has begun and continues through midnight on Thursday, April 13th. Vote often to help advance the Pepsi Ice Center into the Top 4! The Grand Prize winner of Kraft Hockeyville USA will win $150,000 in arena upgrades and will have the chance to host a 2017-2018 NHL Pre-Season Game in their hometown!
USA HOCKEY LEVEL 4 CEP CLINIC OFFER
The NHL will be conducting its 2017 NHL Draft in Chicago on June 23-24, 2017 at the United Center. In conjunction with this 55th NHL Draft, the USA Hockey Central District is proud to announce a unique, two-day Level 4 CEP Clinic offer:

  • USAH Level 4 CEP Clinic: June 23rd
USA Hockey has partnered with the NHL Coaches Association, the Chicago Blackhawks and AHAI to conduct a Level 4 CEP Clinic at the United Center, in Chicago on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. There are two separate/mandatory registrations for this special Level 4 Clinic offer.

Attendees must first register with USA Hockey for the Level 4 CEP Clinic at the United Center in Chicago on June 23rd. The fee for this USAH clinic will be greatly reduced to only $75.00.  Registration for this Level 4 will open on Thursday, April 13, 2017 @ 12 Noon.

Once registration for this Level 4 is completed with USAH, you will be sent (within 24 hours) an email (to the email address you used to register with USAH for this clinic) with a link to register for the NHL Coaches clinic, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, on June 22, 2017 from 7:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The fee to attend this NHL Coaches clinic will be discounted by 33% to $200.00 for all USAH Chicago Level 4 registrants.

In order to achieve the USAH Level 4 certification, attendance at both the NHL Coaches Clinic, on June 22nd and USAH Level 4 Clinic on June 23rd are mandatory!

2016 IHHF BIO SERIES: DAVE LOUGHNANE
Dave Loughnane began his youth hockey involvement through son Andy's and daughter Kerry's participation in the Winnetka Hockey Club. Starting in 1982, Dave served as travel team manager multiple times, and for several years as Board member and President of the Club. He served on the NIHL Board for a number of years, including terms as Vice-President and President. Dave was a long time member of the AHAI Board, and for many years continued to serve as a consultant to AHAI Presidents and Board members in dealing with administrative and dispute resolution issues. QUESTION: The officials in error started play with Team A having too many men on ice, but never noticed until Team A scored a goal and then admitted that they missed the extra skater until after the goal was scored. What would have been the correct call in this situation?  ANSWER>>

QUESTION: Team A received a minor penalty at 4:30 of the period. Team B received a minor penalty at 4:00 of the period. Team B scores a goal at 3:45 of the period. Does Team A penalized player get to leave penalty box or the fact that the teams are playing at even strength (4 on 4) when goal is scored negate the player from Team A leaving the box?  ANSWER>>

LATIN SCHOOL SKATES IN NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT; FOX VALLEY JV TEAMS SHINES WITH SENSATIONAL SEASON
By Ross Forman ~ Latin School of Chicago represented Illinois in the multi-day 2017 National High School Championships (Combined Teams division), which culminated April 3 in Cleveland.  Edwardsville was the only other Illinois team competing in the annual tournament.  Latin went 2-1 in pool play, then was ultimately eliminated in a 4-1 loss to a team from Missoula, Mont.  The Romans had three 2-goal scorers in their first three games: Ethan Wilen, Alden Sulger and Mark Lorden. Wilen and Lorden also each had 1 assist. Jerome Seebeck had a team-high 2 assists in their first 3 games. READ MORE>>

The American Hearing Impaired Hockey Association (AHIHA) has released the 17 woman roster that will compete in the World Deaf Ice Hockey Championships to be held in April of 2017 in Amherst, New York. The roster includes Illinois' Hannah Garcia (Sabre Girls 19U) of Naperville and Madison Gagliano (Chicago Mission 14U) of Elgin. READ MORE>>

USA Hockey announced the roster and coaching staff for the U.S. Men's National Under-18 Team that will compete at the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 Men's World Championship from April 13-23, in Poprad and Spisska Nova Ves, Slovakia.
