Crane Lift:

20 E Delaware Place

On Thursday, 3/20/25, the crane will arrive onsite around 8am & will be offsite by 4pm the latest. If needed, a back-up day will be scheduled for Friday, 3/21/25.

Address: Tallbott Hotel – 20 E Delaware Place, Chicago – crane setting up on Delaware Place. (Full closure)

Description of Work: Replacing chillers on top of the Tallbott Hotel

462 E North Water Street

In preparation for higher than normal volume of crowds in the downtown area this weekend, the tower crane for the 400 Lake Shore Drive project will be put into weathervane due to the expected high winds.  Weathervane involves releasing the slew brake (the equivalent of a parking brake) so the crane can rotate 360 degrees in the same direction the wind is blowing. This process prevents the crane from fighting against the wind. Typically, the crane will point in the direction of the wind. However, this is a challenging location due to the adjacent buildings, the river and the lake that create swirling winds more often than not.

A small work force will be working on site Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and security personnel on site beginning at 6:00 p.m. Friday through 6:00 a.m. Monday

If you should have any questions or concerns, please feel free to Superintendents Rich Goodwin (312-339-3644) and/or Mike Hanley (312-656-0537).
