CPS announced that classes are officially cancelled Thursday, October 17, in anticipation of a strike by Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) and SEIU 73.
All Chicago Public School (CPS) buildings will be open during their normal schedule. Principals and and non-union support staff will be on-site to ensure students are safe and engaged in stimulating activities.

Students who need a safe place to go are encouraged to attend their regular school, but will welcome students at any CPS school that is age-appropriate.
All CPS schools will serve breakfast and lunch to students. In the event that you choose to send your child to school, please use the Contingency Site Registration Tool to register your child.

The Chicago Park District will open a limited number of fieldhouses with limited hours of operation, to provide resources to families.These fieldhouses will be open weekdays from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. Customers can engage in drop-in and low-organized activities, open gym and fitness center usage. The Chicago Public Library will also be open to facilitate as a safe haven site. The Lincoln Park Branch located at 1150 W. Fullerton is the closest branch in our neighborhood.
