There’s never been a shortage of live theater options on the North Shore and this month is no exception! Several new productions debut in January including The Heart Sellers at Northlight Theatre (1/23 – 2/23), Frida…A Self Portrait at Writers Theatre (1/23 – 2/23) and The Complete Work of William Shakespeare Abridged at Oil Lamp Theater (1/24 – 2/16).

Resilience - A Sansei Sense of Legacy
NEW EXHIBIT NOW OPEN

In 1942, in response to the bombing of Pearl Harbor by Japanese forces, President Franklin Roosevelt signed into law Executive Order 9066, which ordered the imprisonment of all Japanese Americans living on the west coast. Resilience - A Sansei Sense of Legacy is an exhibition of eight artists whose work reflects the effect of EO9066 as it resonated from generation to generation.

Northlight Theatre Announces Groundbreaking
After five decades, Northlight Theatre will finally have a home of its own when it breaks ground this March in Downtown Evanston. The 2025-2026 season is expected to be the final season in the theatre’s current home at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie. The anticipated opening of the new 285-seat theatre is Fall 2026.

Two New Winter Exhibitions
OPENING JANUARY 25
Block Museum, Northwestern University | 40 Arts Circle Dr., Evanston

There are two new exhibitions opening at the Block Museum this month! It Takes a Long Time to Stay Here: Paintings by Jordan Ann Craig runs through April 13 and Woven Being: Art for Zhegagoynak/Chicagoland runs through July 13. Both take place in the Alsdorf Gallery. The museum is free and open to all.

Northwestern Announces 2025 Football Schedule!

The 2025 football season will be here before we know it, so save the dates for the following home games! The first five will be played at Evanston’s Lakefront Medicine Field at Martin Stadium and the last two at Wrigley Field: Western Illinois (9/6), Oregon (9/13), UCLA (9/27), ULM (10/4), Purdue (10/18), Michigan (11/15) and Minnesota (11/22).
