Face coverings will become mandatory in indoor public places in Grey and Bruce counties on Friday, July 17, 2020, under a new directive from the Grey-Bruce Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ian Arra.

The health unit is offering a free Business Information Webinar with Dr. Arra at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 15, 2020). Topics will include face coverings and Stage 3 COVID-19 business reopening information. You may submit questions in advance to Drew Ferguson at publichealth@publichealthgreybruce.on.ca.

The new order requires all commercial establishments in Grey Bruce, to the fullest extent possible, to enact the following, in concert with Stage 3 of opening the province:
  • ensure effective measures are in place to maintain physical distancing of 2 metres among all employees and clients;
  • ensure the availability of alcohol-based hand rub at all entrances and exits; and,
  • make the best effort (verbal) to restrict persons from entering the premises or remaining within the premises if not wearing a face covering. Turning away or refusing a customer is not required under this order.

The health unit has issued a Frequently Asked Questions about Face Coverings document, which outlines such things as who may be exempt from wearing face coverings, which commercial establishments must comply, and what parts of those establishment are covered by the order.
