VALLEJO, CA - In November 2022, during a monthly meeting of the Chief's Community Advisory Board (CAB), sitting members of the Board, along with Interim Chief Jason Ta, elected to extend Board Member terms through 2024.
"Having worked closely with this CAB board, I have watched this group develop and finally begin to gain traction," said Interim Police Chief Jason Ta. "It would not benefit any of us to hamper the Board's momentum at this time. Extending the Board’s term delivers and reinforces the kind of continuity we want to see Citywide, especially how it relates to meeting and completing the OIR recommendations."
The Board voted unanimously to extend their term through 2024.
"It took us some time to get a firm footing and progress into a steady flow. However, once we were able to establish that steady flow, we finally began to accomplish our set goals and complete our assigned tasks," said CAB Chair Renee Sykes. "Extending our term will allow us to continue with our forward momentum and provide consistency."
The current CAB members were installed in March 2021. Community Advisory Board members are volunteers that assist the Chief and other command staff in forming strategies, developing community policing concepts, and increasing public awareness. The Board provides a platform for community discussions that offer a broad spectrum of viewpoints.
