Kicking Off the Year with Community, Connection, and Care

The new year is already off to a meaningful and energetic start at Child & Family Center. As 2026 begins, our team has been out in the community connecting with families, sharing resources, and creating spaces for joy, creativity, and togetherness through community outreach.

From hands-on activities for kids to meaningful conversations with families, each gathering created space for connection, creativity, and support. Our outreach even made its way to Knight High School in Palmdale, where students stopped by to engage, learn, and have fun together.

These moments of connection reflect our heart and mission - Changing Lives. Healing Relationships. Helping People Thrive. Strengthening families today for stronger communities tomorrow.

Beating the Winter Blues Together

Winter can bring shorter days, cooler weather, and changes in routine that impact both mood and energy levels for children and adults alike. At Child & Family Center, we know that emotional wellness is just as important as physical health, especially during the colder months.

That’s why we’re sharing a helpful resource, 10 Ways to Beat the Winter Blues, which offers simple, practical strategies to boost joy, stay connected, and care for your mental well-being this season.

Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month

We are highlighting Pathways to Recovery, available treatment options, and the importance of community support. This month encourages individuals and families to seek help, learn more, and take hopeful steps toward healing and lasting wellness.

Did you know that more than 90% of people who develop substance use challenges begin using before age 18, making early support critical for lifelong health and recovery? That’s why Child & Family Center offers its Pathways to Recovery Drug & Alcohol Treatment Program, providing compassionate, youth-focused care for individuals ages 12 and older.

Designed to meet young people where they are, this program offers accessible treatment for Medi-Cal recipients in Los Angeles County, helping teens build coping skills, regain confidence, and move toward brighter, healthier futures with the support they deserve.

A Gentle Start to 2026

As we begin a new year, Child & Family Center reminds our community that growth happens one step at a time. January is about progress, not perfection and no one has to walk their journey alone. Support, hope, and brighter days are always within reach.

As Ana pursued a divorce from her abusive partner, she found herself overwhelmed by depression and emotional exhaustion. Each step of the legal process felt like an uphill battle — especially when she began to feel that her own legal team wasn’t truly protecting her.

With the support of her advocate, Ana refused to stay silent. She created a powerful presentation to educate her attorney about the realities of domestic violence and its impact on survivors. Her courage transformed the direction of her case and gave her renewed confidence to move forward.

Though the journey brought emotional and financial hardship — including being forced to pay her abuser’s legal fees — Ana persisted. She carefully documented the abuse she endured and brought her case to trial.

In the end, the court ruled in Ana’s favor, ordering her abuser to repay all the funds he had taken. More than a legal victory, it was a testament to Ana’s resilience and determination to reclaim her life. Click below to learn more about our life saving domestic violence support services.
