Child Advocacy Expands Parent Education and Support

As we usher in the blooming days of March, I am thrilled to share a personal update about my journey with Child Advocacy. My name is Ashley Tupper, and in April 2023, I embarked on a meaningful role as the Pantry Program Coordinator. This encompassed overseeing vital initiatives such as the Baby Pantry, Foster Closet, Supply the Cycle program, and our collaboration with the Greater Lansing Food Bank.

Now, thanks to the generous support of the Children Trust Michigan grant funding, I am delighted to announce the expansion of my role to the new title of Family Resource Coordinator. In addition to my Pantry Program responsibilities, I will be facilitating the transformative Make Parenting A Pleasure program, coordinating community service referrals, and encouraging parent leadership efforts.

Make Parenting A Pleasure: Nurturing Strong Families

Make Parenting A Pleasure is an evidence-based, free 12-session class designed for parents, grandparents, and caregivers with children aged 0-8. Grounded in the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework, which recognizes the critical and vulnerable nature of early childhood development, this class is set to provide participants with:

1. Informational, Social, and Emotional Support: Join a safe space where parents can open up, self-reflect, learn new skills, and gain support from others.

2. Guidance in Parental Self-Care: Learn effective stress management and create routines that support your well-being.

3. Tools for Creating a Positive, Nurturing Environment: Foster a close, nurturing, and responsive relationship—the single most important factor affecting children’s well-being.

Empowering Parents, Building Confidence

I understand the stressors that come with raising a family, and I want every parent to know that feeling stressed is normal. Parenting is indeed the most challenging and important job. My goal is to empower parents, providing them with the tools and confidence needed to manage stress and foster positive relationships with their children.

Join Our First Make Parenting A Pleasure Class

Our inaugural Make Parenting A Pleasure class will commence on Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 6-8 pm at Child Advocacy. Subsequent sessions will take place every Thursday and Sunday from 6-8 pm, with the final class scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Registration for our spring cohort of Make Parenting A Pleasure is required. If you or someone you know is interested in this transformative parenting class, please use this link to register: https://forms.gle/EG394NdLhhAS2meh9

Let's embark on this journey of growth and empowerment together.

Wishing you all a joyous and fulfilling March!

Ashley Tupper

Family Resource Coordinator

Greetings,

Happy Parenting Awareness Month! Please know that Child Advocacy is a resource for all things parenting. I hope you were all able to enjoy the sneak peek of spring weather this past week. We are excited for spring here at Child Advocacy. We are looking forward to the kick-off of new offerings for families this season and the events that are scheduled for our Child Abuse Prevention Awareness activities in April. We hope you will join us in these activities and will have a full calendar shared on our website and Facebook page the last week in March. Additionally, if you would like to purchase pinwheels, t-shirts, or sweatshirts to help bring about awareness for Child Abuse prevention, please Click here or scan the QR code below. Orders are due by March 8, 2024.

Also, it is not too late to support Child Advocacy in the Target giving campaign. If you have a Target Circle account, you can still vote for Child Advocacy at no cost. Votes will be accepted through March 31, 2024 (see the flyer below for details). Thank you for your support!
