Welcome Oliver

Tiffany LaBlance

CAC Victim Advocate

My name is Tiffany LaBlance, and I began my journey at the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) this past January. It has been a rewarding experience to support families as a Victim/Family Advocate here at the CAC. I’m thrilled to announce some exciting news: we’ve welcomed a new member to our team! Oliver, the Therapy Dog, has officially joined the staff at both the Children’s Advocacy Center and Child Advocacy.

What is a Therapy Dog?

Therapy dogs provide comfort, support, and companionship to individuals in various settings, such as hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and rehabilitation centers. These specially trained dogs help reduce stress and anxiety and promote emotional well-being. By offering unconditional love and affection, therapy dogs can enhance the therapeutic process, aiding in recovery and providing a sense of normalcy and joy in challenging situations. Their presence can also facilitate communication and engagement, making them invaluable in promoting mental health and resilience in those they visit.

A Little Bit about Oliver

Oliver is a 7-year-old Goldendoodle who lives with his owner Tiffany, her husband, son, and two other dogs. From the moment Tiffany met Oliver at 12 weeks old, she was convinced he was meant to be a therapy dog. His calm demeanor and gentle spirit shine through in everything he does. Since turning a year old, Oliver and Tiffany have dedicated themselves to therapy work, connecting with people of all ages for various reasons. He has offered support during crises, added joy to celebrations, and most importantly, provided comfort to those facing difficult times, always bringing a smile and a sense of peace to those in need.

What Role Will He Play at Child Advocacy and the Children’s Advocacy Center?

Oliver will be a comforting presence at Child Advocacy, providing support to the staff and visitors alike. He’ll be accessible for staff who wish to interact with or seek comfort in his company. He’ll also attend staff meetings and events organized by Child Advocacy, so be sure to watch for his furry face!

Primarily, Oliver will be in the Children’s Advocacy Center, working alongside Tiffany as a team. If families prefer, he not be present, that will always be honored. When families arrive, Tiffany and Oliver will be the first faces they see, with Oliver’s calming demeanor playing an essential role in easing any anxiety. He will be right there in the room to help create a welcoming atmosphere, especially for families who may be facing difficult times.

Additionally, Oliver will be present during meetings that involve sensitive discussions. His presence will provide a source of comfort, allowing individuals to find a sense of calm as needed. The staff is thrilled to welcome Oliver to the team, and he is eager to interact with everyone who visits Child Advocacy.
