Health and Safety
Emergency planning happens year round. Each month, we will highlight safety themes and resources. The National Safety Council has a list of themes and events:  https://www.nsc.org/events/safety-observance-calendar .

January 2019 is National Radon Action Month!
During January, participate in "living green". According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, a big part of "living green" is breathing clean, healthy indoor air.

Below is a link to several videos and resources for important safety information:

During January, we also experience winter weather. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, winter storms and cold temperatures can be dangerous. Stay safe and healthy by planning ahead. Prepare your homes and cars. Prepare for power outages and outdoor activity. Check in on older adults.

Pre-Planning, February 2019 is American Heart Month!
During February, participate in "Living a Long and Healthy Life: Keeping hearts beating gets our hearts pumping". According to the American Heart Association, "They h ave an unhealthy obsession with your health. They fund science that helps figure out new ways to lower your blood pressure and keep your heart healthy so you can live your best life."
Resources to Share With Families
Community Gardens

Are your families interested in being part of a community garden? A community garden is one piece of g ardened   collectively  by a group of people . Benefits of the program include greater access to fresh local produce, lower grocery bill and an increased sense of community.

If your families are interested in a community garden plot, now is the time to get a plot. Share this resource with them to find out more about community gardens. Our agency, Southern New Hampshire Services oversees a community garden plot located in Goffstown. Click here for more information.
