Child Care: ND Legislative Solutions

Regular session begins Tuesday, January 7th. Legislative Council has received requests from legislators for almost 1,000 measures, including 250 pre-filed bills No more than five bills may be introduced by each representative after January 13th and no more than three bills may be introduced by each senator after January 20th.

Committee hearing schedules are typically released by Friday for the following week. The deadline to submit testimony is generally the morning before the hearing on that bill. Most hearings can be viewed live online or in person and are recorded for later viewing.

Watch for opportunities to submit testimony as it relates to child care or school-age out-of-school time programming in upcoming editions of this e-newsletter.

The North Dakota Afterschool Network and Child Care Aware of North Dakota are working together to align systems to increase access and quality in the child care and school-age care industry. Together with partners, we are sharing ND Legislative Solutions based on a comprehensive analysis of 2023-2025 Biennium child care related appropriations and multiple surveys issued to child care providers, education leaders, families, business, and economic development stakeholders to gauge where challenges still exist within the child care ecosystem.
