April 6, 2020

Parents,

In coordination with the church Session's decision for the church building to be closed until further notice, the Child Development Center will remain closed indefinitely. Please check your email for further announcements. Tuition payments will be waived.

Per Bright from the Start, Pre-K is closed for the remainder of the school year. We will organize something special for our Pre-K families when we are able to re-open. Details forthcoming.

Spring pictures have been canceled for this month.

I also want you to know that our Assistant Director, Kara Wheeler, has taken a Director of Family Ministries position in Rock Hill, SC and will be leaving us mid-May.

If you have not already read our updated parent handbook that will be in effect when we re-open, please do so here. The primary changes to the handbook are an update to our biting policy and requirements for picking-up a sick/injured child. When we return to school, you will be asked to sign that you received a printed copy of this handbook which will include each of the Appendixes mentioned.

For our Pre-K families, DECAL has launched Georgia‚Äôs Pre-K @ Home . This webpage will be updated each day with new activities to engage children in learning at home. Activities include storytelling, screen-free activities, outdoor fun and virtual field trips.

For our younger families, Cox Campus is offering an online preschool hosted by the Atlanta Speech school. More information on this opportunity for your child is available here . DECAL has also posted Toddler Time at Home which may interest our younger families.

We understand that our closure puts a continued burden on those of you who are unable to work remotely and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. We feel this is how we can contribute to slowing the spread of this virus and protecting the health and safety of our community. As the poem below shares, we love all of our children and are grateful that you entrust them to our care. Thank you for the trust that you place in us. We miss being together!

Please like our new Facebook page. We hope to remain as connected as possible with our families during this time of social distancing. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Our prayers continue to be with those who are infected with this virus, those who are caring for these individuals, and for those who have to make difficult decisions as we navigate this time.

Sincerely,

Susan Moon, Director
