The legislation regarding the minimum age requirement of 18 for Lead Teachers became statute on July 1, 2024. The Office of Child Care (OCC) will now approve individuals who fulfill all experience and education criteria as Lead Teachers from the age of 18. Although the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) will undergo revisions, the new law takes precedence, and the updated age requirement should be implemented immediately.

At the recent trainers quarterly meeting, several questions were asked about the fate of the Training Voucher program.

The voucher program should be restarting in 2026. Details won't be available for some time.
