Welcome Back!
This Sunday marked the return of in-person Sunday School, nursery, acolytes, choir, and EYC. Woohoo! What a joyful, joyful day. A few highlights:
  • meeting new Sunday School participants who began as online members during the pandemic.
  • getting the most enthusiastic hug from one of our primary kids who was beyond excited to get back to St. John's.
  • listening as the hubbub and excitement of the elementary room quickly subsided into busy, happy quiet as they worked.
  • reading the middle school class covenant (above).
  • watching children in the elementary and primary rooms exploring our new books. (Thank you to those who have purchased books from the wish list to update our library!)
  • seeing the acolytes lead the procession—our first procession since March 2020!
  • hearing the youth choristers singing not one but two anthems during church.
  • sharing a meal and cookies with EYC families on the West Lawn.

Thank you to the teachers who make this possible, to the parents who bring their children, to the nursery workers, and to all the participants. You are a gift to this community, and I am grateful for each and every one of you.

Confirmation Class and Retreat details

Youth grades 7 and above (and adults) are invited to consider being confirmed when Bishop Laura visits on Sunday, November 7, 2021.

For all confirmands
The confirmation retreat will be Friday, November 5 6-9pm and Saturday, November 6 9am-12pm. We will gather Friday evening for dinner, activities, and a eucharist, and then we will gather Saturday morning 9-12 for more activities and a service project.

For those who did not complete confirmation class in 2020, confirmation class will be on three Thursdays (9/23, 10/7, 10/21) from 7:00 to 8:30 on Zoom.

For youth who are not yet baptized, confirmation class counts as baptism preparation as well, and they can be baptized by the bishop on November 7.
Final Movie Night (DATE CHANGE)
Mark your calendars and come enjoy a final, family-friendly movie on the lawn. We haven't decided on a movie, but right now we are thinking about Ratatouille, Up, Soul, or The Nightmare before Christmas. Do you have ideas?

Consider inviting a family to join you! Maybe there's a family from school who has mentioned looking for a church, or a family from church that you haven't seen around in a while. Or maybe you invite a neighbor who doesn't need a faith community but could use a free, safe event for children and youth. St. John's is a special place—let's not keep it a secret.
Upcoming Events
9/19 1 pm SJP at the Yard Goats
9/30 6:45 pm Movie on the Lawn
10/31 4 pm EYC-sponsored Trunk or Treat
11/5-6 Confirmation retreat
11/7 Bishop visitation
