The Prayer Chain is a special ministry of our church, through which members engage in a ministry of intercessory prayer, praying for particular people who either refer themselves, or who are referred by church members and staff. Prayers are offered both for individuals by name, and anonymously. Requests can be kept strictly confidential for the prayer chain only.
To place a request on the Prayer Chain, please call the Church Office at (732) 899-0587 or call Frankie Kunz at 732-892-4223. You also may fill out a prayer card in the pew.
Members of the Prayer Chain make a commitment to faithfully pray and keep all requests confidential. They can receive messages over the phone or by email. If you would like to be a part of this special ministry please call Frankie Kunz.
Wilton Hall Dedication April 22
Please join us in the CE Annex on April 22 for the dedication of Wilton Hall in honor of the Rev. Dr. Carlos E. Wilton. The dedication ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m. followed by a coffee and cake reception. Dr. Wilton, along with the Rev. Claire Pula, will be returning that afternoon as we recognized him for his outstanding work and devotion in establishing the Volunteer Village after Hurricane Sandy.
All are welcome to join us in this joyous dedication. All who participated in the mission of the Volunteer Village are especially encouraged to attend.
Once again we're calling all Presbyterian women who would like to join us this month for
"Dine Around". The fourth
of each month is our time to join for food, fellowship and fun. This month, on
Wednesday, April 25th, at 6:30 p.m
will be a special treat!
Jacque Thorton has invited all Presbyterian women to her home for dinner!!! She will cook and we're asked just to bring whatever we would prefer to drink. Jacque is very happy to be settled into her condo and would like to share her joy with us. Next month we will be back to meeting local restaurants.
If you can join us on the 25th please call Jacque and let her know so she can prepare accordingly. Her number is 732-644-8186 and her address is
101 Clipper Court, Toms River (Silverton
area). Hope to see you there.
The Big Cover Up
In just one week a great amount of work was done on the roof.
The signed roof board was one of the first sheets put up. Work is expected to continue into next week.
When coming over to the church during the week, please allow extra time for parking. While the work is ongoing the parking lot is unavailable for use.
Parking at the Manse is available during this time of limited parking. Please be sure that you are not parking someone in, and that you leave room for two cars to park side by side. This is especially convenient if you have to run in to the church for a short time.
Busy Hands for Mission
Busy Hands for Mission is a group of women who meet in the Fellowship Room on the first, fourth, and fifth Tuesday of each month to make items for others. We meet from 10 to 12 and enjoy having lunch together afterward.
Our projects include adult bibs, hospital gowns, and walker caddies which are given to the Visiting Nurses Association for their use. Baby hats and blankets are given to Jersey Shore Medical Center and Ocean Medical Center for newborn infants. Local nursing homes receive large and small walker caddies and lap robes. Dresses in various sizes are sent to Africa through the "Little Dresses for Africa" project. We also make the bags filled by our congregation with school supplies. Pillowcases are made and donated to Interfaith Hospitality Network and Crafty Fabrics, owned by Diane McColley. She distributes them to the children's units at hospitals. Teddy bears are given to children staying at our church through the Interfaith Hospitality Network.
If you would like to be a part of these projects, we need material, yarn, bias bindings, and other supplies. We are accepting gift cards to Micheal's and Joanne's, baby and medium weight yarn, cotton or cotton/polyester blend material of at least a yard in length, and large pieces of flannel for the teddy bears. In addition, we have had a Christmas Shoppe of handmade items the last two years which enabled us to donate $1000 to fixing the church roof.
However our financial cupboard is now bare. We would gladly accept financial donations to enable us to continue helping others.
To join our group, for more information, or to donate, please contact Marilyn Rice 732 202-1696 or Sue Hankins 732 458-3823 or stop by on the first, fourth, or fifth Tuesday in the Fellowship Room. We have something for you to do even if you don't sew, knit, or crochet!
Our church will be hosting IHN training for both past volunteers and new volunteers. Anyone wanting to know more about IHN is also welcome to attend. Volunteers from other host churches will be participating in this training. Brunch will be provided. Please rsvp to to IHN directly to email@example.com or 732-736-1550.
This Week at Point Beach Prep
This week we learned letter X. Our sign language word was xylophone. We had quite a
few xylophones come in for Show and Tell, along with x-rays and other creative ideas. We put a skeleton together and danced the x-ray dance. We made treasure maps, wrote X marks the spot, and took them out to the playground to search for treasure. We read Xavier Ox's Xylophone Experiment, Max and Ruby Play School, Fox in Socks, How I Became a Pirate, along with other stories. Some of our activities were putting x-rays on the overhead projector, x stamps,a pirate map hunt, and Mother's Day Tea surprises. We enjoyed visits on Thursday and Friday from the PPB High School Child Development Class. We also enjoyed our parents who came in to do activities for Student of the week. It was exciting!

The Interim Pastor Committee
This Sunday the interim committee will be updating the congregation on the activity that has been taking place for us to call an interim pastor. The interim committee is comprised of 10 members and they have received Personal Information Forms from 63 candidates. Each candidate has been initially reviewed by the committee members and several have been suggested for further review.
We have guest preachers lines up until the end of May. It is our hope that the congregation has enjoyed listening to the different styles and speakers. Thank you for your patience in the process. It is so good to see Sunday Worship attendance not wavering and many people are actively participating in the life of our church. Thank you also to Linda Chase for seeing us through the process and leading us until a call is made for an interim.
Next week there will be an update on the New Beginnings program which is proving to be very successful thus far.
