Domestic Violence Awareness Month!

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime, and studies show that 30% to 60% of intimate partner violence perpetrators also abuse children in the household (www.thehotline.org).

These statistics are powerful reminders that intimate partner violence affects far too many families in our community. We all deserve safety, and we all have a part to play in creating a world free from violence.

That's why October's Domestic Violence Awareness Month is an important time to reflect on how YOU can take part in making our world a safer place. Maybe that means signing up for a bystander intervention training, volunteering at your local shelter, or educating yourself on the issue. It's Time Lexington has some great ideas on how you can get involved in Central Kentucky! Together, let's end domestic violence.

Be a Hero: Spot the Signs of Abuse!

Did you know that in the state of Kentucky, we are ALL mandatory reporters? That means it is everyone's responsibility to keep children safe by learning the signs of abuse and making the report! Check out some of the potential signs below, and visit our resources page (linked here) to learn more.

Bluegrass Gives 2025

A new name, but the idea is the same! Bluegrass Gives, formerly known as Good Giving Challenge, is moving from a weeklong giving event to a one-day celebration of giving to nonprofits throughout Central Kentucky.

On Giving Tuesday, December 2nd from 6am-midnight, you'll have the opportunity to support the life-changing work provided at our Center. This year, all the money raised will directly support emergency resource items for children and families in crisis, including our resource room, Kristin's Closet. We keep Kristin's Closet stocked with new clothes, socks, underwear, shoes, coats, essential toiletry items, and food packages to meet the immediate needs of kids and families facing financial insecurity. Be on the lookout for emails and social media posts with ways to give.
