Kristin's Closet is OPEN

Kristin Jenkins, beloved former CACBG Program Director, had a vision for a resource closet to help families in crisis. Following her sudden passing in March 2021, we have been working to honor her memory and make that vision a reality. We are excited to announce that Kristin's Closet is now open, and we are accepting donations!

Thanks to the generosity of the Junior League of Lexington, individual donors at last year's annual gala, and a grant from the UK College of Business, we have been able to redesign Kristin's old office with multi-use shelving and closet areas to hold resources for the children and families we see that are in need of basic necessities, such as: toiletry items, personal hygiene items, feminine products, diapers, new clothes, new underwear, backpacks, journals, and more.

This resource closet will allow children and families the opportunity to have some of their basic needs met, to help set them on the path to healing and hope!

Snapshots: Donations Coming In

This month, we've had a few groups run donation drives to help stock Kristin's Closet and also to provide toys and activities for the children who utilize the Center's services. Thank you to so many generous groups in our community!

Staff Spotlight

Rachael Helm, MPA

Child and Family Advocate

A native of Hickman County, Kentucky, Rachael has been on the CACBG team since March of 2021. Since she was young, she has known that she wanted to work with at-risk children and juveniles. She finds working at the Center meaningful because she can work with young people who are in a time of crisis, and she wants to be able to be a positive impact on a child that may not have had that otherwise.

She loves being able to help families in their time of need, and and gets satisfaction when families thank her for listening to their concerns.

In her free time, Rachael loves spending time with her husband and 3-year-old daughter. She enjoys live music, traveling (the beach in particular!), and good food.

Medical Center Waiting Room Dedicated

On May 11th, CAC of the Bluegrass was proud to dedicate our Medical Center Waiting Room to Mike and Jo Ann Ritchie. Mike and Jo Ann are longtime supporters of the Center, and we are so thankful for their generosity in helping to provide healing and hope for the children and families we serve.
