Introducing Two New Board Members

We are thrilled to welcome two new board members to CAC of the Bluegrass!

Elizabeth Cawood, MBA, AAMS, is an Edward Jones Financial Advisor who's lived and worked in Lexington since 1985. She's a Marshall University and UK College of Business graduate who loves spending time one-on-one with her clients to better understand and help them reach their goals. She plans to bring that same attention to detail and personal touch to her role on the CACBG board!

Elizabeth and her husband have five children and eight grandchildren, and in her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and hiking.

Shannon Chaney is a lifelong Estill Countian who has spent the past 26 years with Citizens Guaranty Bank, where she currently serves as Estill County Market President. She's an EKU grad, and enjoys gardening and spending time with her husband and two children.

Shannon stated, "I am very excited to be involved with the Children's Advocacy Center, and support their wonderful mission to advocate for the precious children in the communities we work and live in.”

Both Elizabeth and Shannon have already been working behind the scenes to support CAC of the Bluegrass. They have recruited their employers as sponsors of An Evening For The Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass, and are excited to work on behalf of the organization to provide healing and hope for the children we serve.

Kentucky Bar Foundation Grant Supports New CACBG Training Program

The Kentucky Bar Foundation awarded CAC of the Bluegrass a $10,000 grant to implement a "Minimal Facts Training" program with our various law enforcement, social services, and multidisciplinary team partners. This training program is designed to provide research-based best practice interview techniques for the first responding agencies in child sexual abuse cases. CACBG held the first series of this training program with Lexington Police, DCBS, and members of the Fayette Commonwealth's Attorney's office in January, and we are thankful that the Kentucky Bar Foundation grant allows us to partner with more of our counties for this training!

Betty Montgomery

Forensic Interviewer

Betty has been a Forensic Interviewer on the CACBG team for nearly seven years. In that time, she has had many proud moments, but her proudest are when a child's disclosure in an interview facilitates the removal of a perpetrator by law enforcement. Serving children and promoting their safety and well-being is of the utmost importance to Betty! She also loves talking to children about what they love to do and their hopes and dreams. "Over the years, I have learned so much from them," Betty says.

In her free time, Betty likes to play tennis, read, garden, and travel. She loves the beach, and says of all the places she's visited, the pristine beaches of the Caribbean are tops on her list!
