Partners from the Lexington Police Department stopped by for our Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon

Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon

On May 17th, CAC of the Bluegrass hosted our first ever "Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon" to coincide with National Police Week. Our Center could not exist without the strong partnerships we have formed with law enforcement agencies across the region. These individuals work tirelessly every day to ensure that the children we serve are safe and protected. Our staff enjoyed hosting multiple departments from Central Kentucky with lunch, and spending time outside in the beautiful weather! We hope they left knowing how much we appreciate their work and dedication!

Spot The Signs of Abuse

Summer break is upon us. Kids will be at new camps and in new environments. This is a great time to familiarize yourself with common signs of abuse. If you suspect abuse, please call the child abuse hotline immediately: 1-877-597-2331.

Georgetown Kiwanis Club member, Kim Marshall with

CACBG Development Associate, Emily Metcalfe

Thank you Georgetown Kiwanis Club!

This month Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass was invited to come speak to the Georgetown Kiwanis Chapter. They graciously donated to our organization to support our programs for child survivors of sexual abuse. We always appreciate the opportunity to build connections and to spread the word on the services that we provide throughout the Bluegrass region. If you have a group that would like to learn more about the work we do, or ways they can be involved to protect children in our communities, let us know by emailing Emily@KyKids.org. We would love to work with you!

Erika Wilson

Join us in welcoming our newest team member, Erika Wilson! Erika serves as our Director of First Impressions. This is a new position at CACBG, and in this role, Erika greets our clients and ensures that everyone who comes into our building feels welcome and cared for. She is a recent graduate of Berea College where she majored in Child and Family Studies with a double minor in Peace and Social Justice and Women and Gender Studies.

When asked why she is excited to be a part of the CACBG team she said, "I wanted to work at CAC because I truly love the mission here. My overall mission in life has been to create safe spaces for people, which is something CAC does an incredible job with."

When not working, Erika enjoys baking, watching New Girl, reading, or going for walks.

Staff members that worked with Kristin Jenkins around Kristin's Tree.

To honor the memory of our former Program Director, Kristin Jenkins, who passed two years ago, Joseph Hillenmeyer Garden Design donated and planted a tree outside of our Center. Kristin is an integral part of who the Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass is, and it means so much to our staff to have this beautiful tree as a symbol of her impact and legacy. We can't wait to see it grow for years to come!
