CAC of the Bluegrass Team Gives Back!

CAC of the Bluegrass Team Members at International Book Project

On Friday, September 22, members of the CAC of the Bluegrass team spent time volunteering at the International Book Project in Lexington. The team has committed to quarterly volunteer projects with organizations doing great work in Central Kentucky. It allows the CAC of the Bluegrass to give back to the community, while also strengthening team bonds.

The International Book Project's mission is to develop lasting partnerships with educators in underserved communities to provide books, promote literacy, and advance opportunity. The CACBG team sorted books for containers headed to Zimbabwe and Jamaica.

If you are connected to a local non-profit interested in hosting a volunteer group, let us know by emailing Emily Metcalfe at emily@kykids.org!

August a Busy Month at the Center

August was a busy month at CAC of the Bluegrass. With summer vacations ending and school going back in session, it is not uncommon for the Center to see an uptick in referrals over the course of the first few months of the school year. You can make a difference in the life of a child by reporting suspected abuse. Call the Child Abuse Hotline at any time: (877) 597-2331.

Staff Spotlight

Carly Hodskins

Forensic Interviewer

Carly Hodskins serves as one of the CAC of the Bluegrass's four forensic interviewers. As an interviewer, she is proud to be part of the team (along with family advocates, law enforcement, DCBS, and others) working collaboratively to serve children and families during their darkest moments. She says she is amazed each time she sits with a child and witnesses their "bravery and resilience," and she continues working at the CAC because she has a "passion for serving victims and their families and being a small part in their path of healing."

Prior to working at the CAC, Carly worked as a Child Mental Health Clinician in Franklin County. In her free time, you will likely find her chasing behind her energetic and outdoors-loving boys (aged 2 and 3), or reading a good book. In fact, she's on track to finish 25 books this year alone!
