Excited for Art of Childhood
I love seeing the return of so many of our long-standing events this summer. Our family was excited to dust off our boots and attend the Reno Rodeo a couple of weeks ago, and then go to an Aces game a few days later; to me, both of these events scream "let's kick off summer in Reno"! After enjoying the great fireworks displays from a few venues around town, we are more ready than ever to attend Artown events, Reno Chalk Art & Music Festival, Pops on the River, and the Water Lantern Festival...and that's just a few of the fun activities happening in our area the next few weeks.
We have three tables left for our annual fundraising gala, the Art of Childhood. Our event will be Friday, August 20
at Rancharrah with a "Bow Ties & Boots" theme. We are excited to see our supporters in person, but if you are not able to join us, you can still take part by bidding on some great silent auction items. More details on the auction items will be headed to your inbox in early August.
We hope you are all finding ways to have a cool summer, filled with memory-making opportunities with friends and family.

Celebrating Eleven Years in Las Vegas
Since 2010, The Children's Cabinet Las Vegas has focused on several programs that benefit families and child care providers in the state of Nevada. From parenting classes to education and training for child care providers, The Children's Cabinet Las Vegas has always had two goals: for every parent to have access to high-quality care, and for every child care provider to feel supported in providing service to families.
The Las Vegas team currently serves 177 child care providers in the Las Vegas area to help them achieve higher quality star ratings, and at those sites, provided 1,276 coaching visits since the beginning of the year. Additionally, the staff provided 494 hours for substitute teaching services to 12 child care programs in Las Vegas from April to June when the team was able to be on site again.
Therefore, we take this time to celebrate another amazing year in Las Vegas!

Program Spotlight: Child Care Provider Support
The Children's Cabinet has so many programs that benefit child care providers in our state, allowing them to provide the best quality care possible to families in Nevada. Here is what that support looks like:
- ECSN: The Early Childhood Support Network (ECSN) program offers temporary, on-call substitute care to licensed child care centers and family child care homes in Reno, Sparks, and Las Vegas.
- Nevada Pyramid Model Partnership: This statewide initiative is designed to create a sustainable system that promotes social-emotional development in youth children using the Pyramid Model. The Pyramid Model is a framework for supporting social-emotional competence and preventing challenging behaviors in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
-
Ongoing Education: Webinars and in-person, The Children's Cabinet offers many training opportunities for child care providers. For our full list of provider classes, visit our website here.
-
QRIS: The Children's Cabinet Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) Coaching Program supports licensed child care providers in achieving a higher QRIS star rating. We provide effective, on-site assistance to enhance knowledge, skills, practices, or environment.
