June 2, 2021
Congratulations 2021 Graduates!

For many of us, June marks the end of the school year and the start of summer.
Later than usual dinners, and a break from school lunch-making responsibilities, quickly become part of our summer routine; this summer will also include some college visits for our youngest, as we start to make plans in advance of her last year of high school.

This is such a special time of year for graduating high school students. Young people throughout the country are celebrating the conclusion of their high school years and making various plans for their future.  We congratulate all of the graduates for their accomplishments and the endurance they have shown this last 15+ months when things everywhere were anything but normal.  We also take an extra moment to recognize our own Redfield Academy graduates and look forward to celebrating them. We are excited to see what the next chapter brings for each of our grads.

June 2021 also brings the return of so many familiar events for our community. Food Truck Friday returns this week, Reno River Festival will be June 12-13 and, the Reno Rodeo is June 17-26. After so many events were canceled last year at this time, I think many of us are excited to participate in the wonderful and unique opportunities we have here in Washoe County. Finally, don't forget to celebrate Dad in June...Father's Day is June 20 so now is a good time to make a fun plan for this special day.

Please read on for more details about our Redfield Academy graduates and information on The Children's Cabinet's Annual Fundraising Gala, the Art of Childhood.

Redfield Academy is The Children's Cabinet's on-site high school, helping Washoe County students who are two or more semesters behind in school to catch up and achieve graduation. Youth find success at Redfield because they appreciate the small setting with teacher attention, they follow a personalized plan for reaching academic and personal goals, and they have access to counseling services and family resources.
