Dear Families,
February offers us a meaningful opportunity to learn together and reflect on the values we nurture every day at LEAP. This month, as we recognize Black History Month and also celebrate Friendship, our classrooms are focusing on experiences that support kindness, respect, and appreciation for the many stories and voices that shape our communities.
Across all age groups, children are exploring books, music, art, and conversations that highlight fairness, empathy, cooperation, and the idea that everyone belongs. Through friendship-building activities, children practice caring for one another, using kind words, taking turns, and learning how to be part of a community. These experiences are thoughtfully designed to be age-appropriate and meaningful, helping children build understanding, connection, and belonging. At LEAP, this work is part of our ongoing commitment to creating inclusive environments where all children feel seen, valued, and connected.
To support this work I encourage our families to continue these conversations at home, you might ask your child what it means to be a good friend at school. Families can support this learning by talking about kindness, listening to others, helping friends, and including everyone in play. These everyday conversations help children connect what they are learning at school to their experiences at home.
