Children participate in outdoor activities throughout the year but certainly more often as the weather improves.
Children's Center programs follow the recommendations for outside exposure as indicated on the child care weather watch chart as well as National Weather Service, DCFS and NAEYC standards to ensure child safety.
Please provide your child with appropriate outdoor gear at all times. We request that each child has appropriate sun-protective clothing or sunscreen during summer months.
If you bring in insect repellent for your child, application will only occur upon the recommendation of local health authorities once a day.

During the summer here at the Children's Center, our enrichment activities change a bit.
In June, we restart swim lessons the week of June 10th and add in-house performances as well as field trips.
In July, we will enjoy water play days and some trips to the beach while continuing swim lessons, performances, and field trips.
In August, we will continue all the fun until our last day on Friday the 9th.
Here is a detailed outline of all the activities for early childhood.
Language Screening
Maple, Willow, Hickory, Cedar, Redwood, and Gingko participated in this screening with consent.
Here is a list of language resources in our community for anyone who is seeking additional support in language development. Teachers, managers, and our director are available to talk with you about your child's needs.

May Update
Thank you to all who enjoyed gelato during the cold weather on the Tuesday in May. FRIO Gelato donated $150 to the Children's Center!

Care Mobile Visit at Head Start
June 7th 9:30am-2:30pm
Don't miss out on this great opportunity for your child age 4-18 to receive a free physical and any missing vaccinations from the Care Mobile clinic. Parents are welcome to accompany their child but is not necessary for children age 4 and up. To provide the best and safest care for your child, Ronald McDonald Care Mobile needs the consent forms and patient history for any child who will be seen. These forms are available in your child's classroom and must be returned by June 5th at the latest.
Field Trip to Lincoln Park Zoo
June 25th 9:30am-12:30pm
Our preschool groups will be visiting the Lincoln Park Zoo to kick off the summer season. We will enjoy the ongoing animal exhibits and eat lunch back at our site upon our return. If you are interested in chaperoning the field trip, please sign up using the sheet in your child's classroom.
Moving Up Ceremony
June 28th 10:00am-11:00am
Please join us as we celebrate our preschoolers who will be moving up to kindergarten in the fall. We will be performing songs, showcasing our artwork and giving out awards. Everyone is welcome to join us!

School's Out
The last day for School's Out CC and School's Out Foster will be Friday, May 31.
School Age Registration
Registration for School's Out 2019-2020 has begun. Spaces are filling up quickly. Please stop by the front desk and register today!
Bridge Care
We are offering Bridge Care for students already registered in our School's Out program. Bridge Care will take place on Thursday, June 6 and Friday, June 7. Space is limited, no exceptions.
Day Camp
Join us for paperwork check-in on Saturday, June 1 from 10am-2pm at the Children's Center. Day Camp begins on Monday, June 10.
Power Scholars
Power Scholars dates are June 10-July 19. Please be sure you have completed your registration paperwork by June 3. If you have any questions please contact Andrea at [email protected].

Camp paperwork is DUE! Please make sure you have turned in your camp enrollment packets asap! All camp files must be completed before a camper can attend camp, and we are happy to assist with any paperwork questions you may have. Please stop by the front desk at the Children's Center or give us a call at 847-475-8580 to see if you have completed all your necessary documents.
