In Memory of Robert (Bob) Rettinger | |
A Message from our CEO:
We are very saddened by the sudden loss of one of our most supportive Board Members for over ten years, Robert Rettinger, who passed away on January 19, 2023. Robert Rettinger aka “Bob” collaborated with Community Health and Dental Care since I became CEO in 2010. I remember the first meeting we had together as CHDC was transitioning to become a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) at our Robinson Street location and I knew instantly he would make a wonderful Board member. Bob was always happy go lucky, making jokes, and always smiling. It was his charisma which lightened up any room and even through some demanding situations CHDC faced as a new FQHC, Bob never left my side. Words cannot describe how much Bob supported CHDC and our mission, we were blessed and fortunate enough to collaborate with him over a decade as he supported our growth. His initiatives, expertise in banking, and understanding of community needs helped to shape CHDC into the organization it is today. I can still hear his laugh and see his smile as he believed in making Pottstown a better community to work and live in. Bob always made us laugh and feel great about the work we are doing to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable populations CHDC serves throughout the Tri-County area. Rest in peace Bob, as your legacy will live on through our hearts and we will continue to be inspired by everything you accomplished in our community to keep our healthcare movement going strong.

Wear Red Day

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women and causes 1 in 3 deaths yearly. By wearing red, we are helping to spread the word and raise awareness about the importance of heart health.

Children’s Dental Health Tips
- Demonstrate Brushing Techniques
Never underestimate this simple act. Set a timer and develop a routine on how to properly brush all tooth surfaces.
- Discuss Foods to Avoid or Limit
Talking about healthy foods versus unhealthy foods is a great way to promote dental health. For example, gummy snacks would be placed under the “cavity creator” side, while broccoli would be placed under the “healthy for me” side. This activity educates children on how to make better choices.
- Avoid Acidic and Sugary Beverages
It seems obvious to avoid candy and sugary foods, but are you aware of the impact of acidic and sugary beverages on teeth? Look at the sugar content of your drinks; you may be shocked by how much sugar they contain.
- The Importance of Nightly Brushing
Food particles and bacteria can damage teeth if they are left on teeth overnight. Creating a routine to brush teeth every night before bed is a healthy habit.
