A time to Reflect, Reconnect, and Renew.

CMHA Month is recognized each year to promote greater understanding of the mental health needs of children, youth, and their families.

The Biden/Harris Administration recently took a historical step and proclaimed May as Mental Health Awareness Month! View the full proclamation here.

COVID-19 and the shift to remote learning have been stressful on students, their caregivers, and educators, but the transition back to in-person learning is also challenging. In this session, Dr. Bostic and Dr. Rakow from the WISE (Wellbeing In School Environments) Center will be joined by Pat Hunt and Jane Walker, LCSW, of FREDLA (Family-Run Executive Director Leadership Association) to discuss practical and research-based strategies that educators, school leaders, and school staff can use in the classroom, at the school level, and with the broader school community. Participants will learn concrete practices to welcome students back into an in-person learning environment and to reestablish a sense of safety, stability, and connection within schools.

Facebook Live Event - Reconnect, Reflect, and Renew Children's Mental Health Conversation Series
4 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. CT / 2 p.m. MT / 1 p.m. PT / 10 a.m. HT

Join us for the first of a three-part Facebook Live conversation series hosted by the National Training and Technical Assistance Center for Child, Youth, and Family Mental Health (NTTAC) in observance of Children’s Mental Health Awareness Month this May.

Each of the sessions will center around transitions faced during childhood and will feature guests with expertise in youth behavioral health, ranging from early childhood to young adult. Attendees will have a chance to take a look at the current mental health landscape for youth of all ages through the lens of both mental health experts and those with lived experience. Additionally, guests will go over coping mechanisms for the stresses surrounding the current COVID-19 pandemic and learn how to reconnect, reflect, and renew in this unprecedented time.

The first session will feature Youth MOVE National (YMN) Youth Program Specialist Joshua Calarino and Peer Support Specialist Yasmin Flasterstein, the executive director of Peer Support Space, Inc. YMN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to lifting up young voices to generate lasting change. Peer Support Space is a peer-led 501(c)(3) located in Central Florida whose mission is to build, and be a local hub for, diverse peer-led recovery communities.

This event will be streamed on our NTTAC Facebook page.
