Dear Families,

Sometimes, the Holy Spirit weaves things together in a week AND I happen to pay attention to it!

Sunday - it was so beautiful outside, I spent time gardening and walking around to see what was blooming. My husband and I joked with each other about how the plants talk to us and let us know what they need. Last week it happened to be more nitrogen in the vegetable garden with an added boost of more worms. The Plants responded with new happy green leaves.

Monday - Emma and I were driving through our neighborhood and a red fox trotted across the street in front of us, glancing back as if to say "Thanks for slowing down".

Tuesday - we hung out on the back deck and listened to all the new birds talking. We decided to guess what they may be sharing with each other - was it the news of the day (Hey these nice folks just put a thousand worms in the garden for US!), or was it teaching the youngsters the rules of life before our Sharp-shinned Hawk catches them out playing, were they having a singing contest with their neighbors, or were they praising God for all creation?

Wednesday - My EFM class were reading both the book of Joel and Jonah, two books of the bible filled with creation and God's interactions with creation. I loved one verse in Joel 2:21 where God directly reassures nature and the animals BEFORE the people about his restoration plans:

Do not fear, O soil;

    be glad and rejoice,

    for the Lord has done great things!

22

Do not fear, you animals of the field,

    for the pastures of the wilderness are green;

the tree bears its fruit;

    the fig tree and vine give their full yield.

Okay, okay! I am getting the message! And to put the cherry on top - all this happening on the way up to Earth Day yesterday.

Praise God for ALL of Creation! Thank you for the beauty of it all! Help me to notice, protect, and pray with Your creation.

Peace,

Kathy

VBS is one of the best week of the year for kids attending and teens who are leading. So much good stuff happens when we have more time to dive deeper into the stories and explore them through multiple learning styles. It is also one of the few times that young kids spend a lot of time with teens at their church. They get to know them, they look up to them and then when they see them acolyting or reading, they want to be like them.

Sign up now for your kids

and if you can volunteer for a day or two or the whole week, we need you! Grandparents are welcome too! Email me at Kathy Roberts with days you can help - we need teachers, teachers helpers, snack preparers, check in desk, design/decorate the Sunday before, clean up on the Friday at end of week.

Please find the link below to sign your child up for VBS and if needed, Aftercare.

These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Parenting with God

Sunday, April 19

10:20, Rm 305, Ellis Hall

Join us as we discuss our last parable in the book by Josh Scott - The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard (Matthew 20:1-16). It is one of Jesus’ most famous teachings about the "unfairness" of God’s grace, showing that God’s love is a gift given to people regardless of how much they have "earned". Read the bible passage and let's discuss God's amazing grace!
