Dear Families,
I have transitioned from climbing Peruvian mountains to stuffing Easter eggs all within a matter of days!
It is wonderful to be back from sabbatical and Peru AND it has taken a minute to get my bearings as I stepped right back into Holy Week. But the warm, loving welcome back from you and your children has wrapped me up even better than my Alpaca blanket!
Seriously, I saw some amazing sights, made new wonderful friends, pushed myself to conquer great heights, and felt the spiritual thread running through us humans for thousands of years. A yearning for connection with our Creator, whom I call God, and a need to worship and give thanks.
This week is full of opportunities to connect, worship, and give thanks to God for loving us so very much that Jesus would take on and conquer death and sin so that we might have eternal life.
Today is Good Friday - where good and bad things happen, life-ending and life-giving. We have a service at noon and then a walking Stations of the Cross that is a powerful way to experience this day.
Tomorrow is Holy Saturday - full of emotions and yet silent, quiet. The disciples were surely grieving and questioning what everything had been about if this is the end result. Doubt, grief, anger, fear, hopelessness.
And yet, we know this is not the end of the story.
And we come together to the Vigil in the Park to speak of that hope, to raise our voices and sing, to give thanks for an unending, unbreakable, unimaginable love given freely to each of us!
Join me at the park for this wonderful service where kids can dance, dogs can sing, and we can greet and meet our siblings in Christ as we share the Good News of God's great love. (We have been known to make a visit to Shake Shack together after the service!!)
Peace ,
Kathy
