Hello Families!

Happy Eastertide!

The kids and I talked about the fact that Easter isn't just a day - there are 50 days from the Resurrection of Christ to Pentecost Sunday in Eastertide. Christ is with the disciples for 40 days before He ascends into heaven and then 10 days later, the Holy Spirit comes down upon the apostles on Pentecost day (Acts 2:1–31). It is another season in the rhythm of our liturgical life.

Learning the rhythms of life is a grounding thing for us. It allows us to find where we are in the flow of things. The picture above is from the 6th grade choir trip which kids look forward to for years. They know it is coming, it marks a milestone transition for them, and they know where they are in the rhythm of choir-life at All Saints.

Whether it is how our year is structured in our own job, the calendar of events for your child's school year or sports team, or how the life of the church flows throughout the liturgical year. Each season really does have its reason!

Maybe that rhythm keeps us from getting bored or complacent. Or maybe it alerts our brain to restart and learn new things with each change of season. Or maybe it allows us to take stock of where we are, what we are feeling, and what we may want to keep and what we may want to change - not unlike the clearing out of our winter clothes to bring in the fresh new spring clothes.

What are the rhythms of your family life? What traditions or seasons do you want to keep as they are and which ones need some new life?

One new thing for the Eastertide season this year is our Earth Day service in Piedmont Park. Remembering that what we do has a bigger impact on our kids than what we say, marking this day with prayer and thanksgiving out in nature and with our community is a powerful act of faith. Won't you join us and weave this celebration into your season of Easter joy?

Peace,

Kathy

Outdoor Worship Honoring Earth Day @ Piedmont Park

Saturday, April 22, 6:00 pm

We invite you to a worship service that calls us to live well with “this fragile Earth, our island home.” We will celebrate the beauty of God’s creation, name the perils it faces, and commit to the flourishing of the Earth Community. This service gathers at the lakeside dock in Piedmont park, features acoustic music, a simple Eucharist, a dramatic retelling of the Genesis creation story, and a special prayer activity as you leave the park.

The Dock at Lake Clara Meer,

Piedmont Park (Nearest Entrance: Piedmont and 12th street)

Parking available for purchase: Botanical Garden Parking Garage 1320 Monroe Drive, Atlanta GA, 30306

** Bring a chair or blanket to sit on**

The service takes place rain or shine, as we will gather in the Lake Clara Meer Visitor Center (near the 12th street and Piedmont Ave Gate) in the event of rain.

What a lovely new tradition! We have always done a small hunt with the nursery kids during the service, but doing it between services with family was a blast! Thanks for your patience and participation and we will do it again next year.
