Merry Almost Christmas!
In each heart lies a Bethlehem, an inn where we must ultimately answer whether there is room or not. Ann Weems
The season of Advent is full of joy, excitement, and busyness. AND sometimes, it is full of sadness, loneliness, and grief. It may be filled with endings and beginnings, sorrows and gifts, and doubts and hopes.
And in this emotional time, God is with us, holding and comforting us, dancing and playing with us, entering life with us in the form of a baby, who will experience all of our human emotions. Know that you are lovingly and graciously held in God's arms, always, exactly where you are.
Stillness, quiet time, reflection and prayer - even for a small amount of time - help us to center our thoughts on Jesus. It helps us to move away from the feelings of the moment, to clear our minds, to make room in our heart for Jesus. I wish for you to find that space this day as we prepare for the coming of Jesus.
Lord Jesus,
Master of both the light and the darkness,
send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas.
We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.
We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.
We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.
We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.
We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light.
To you we say, “Come Lord Jesus!”
