"Practice resurrection"
Wendell Berry
Hello families,
First of all, I am so sorry we had to cancel A Walk Through Holy Week on Wednesday. A stomach virus got the best of me and I threw in the towel!
Thanks for your love and prayers - that is what community is about and I felt it!
Back to the last half of Holy Week:
Good Friday always brings up the question from kids and adults, "What's so good about it? Didn't Jesus die?" One explanation is the word "good" originally meant "holy" in Old English, so "Good Friday" could be synonymous with "Holy Friday" or "God's Friday." As Christians, we also believe that Jesus' death led to the Good News of His resurrection. In a recent post shared with me, it said "Jesus didn't die instead of you, Jesus died ahead of you. Death and resurrection isn't about substitution, it is about participation". As Jenny McBride says, This is what Paul means with his "in Christ" phrase - Jesus did it for us and before us and we participate actively in what he already did.
Holy Saturday and we mourn and wait.
Easter Day
Jesus Christ is Risen today! Alleluia!
Here is what's happening at church:
8:30 - Table in the courtyard for kids to do a craft and grab a treat while you grab a seat in Ellis or the Church for the 9:00 service.
9:00 Services in Ellis Hall and the Church
10:30
Easter Egg Hunt for Nursery kids/families. Meet in the Gross Motor room on the 1st floor of the Pritchett Center. Parents will accompany kids to find an egg of each color. We will save the Earth by dumping your goodies into your basket and putting the eggs back in my basket to use next year. Make sure to bring a sack or basket. (older siblings see below)
Easter Egg Hunt for K-3rd graders. This year, we will try adding in the elementary age kids for their own hunt up in the Attic, 3rd floor of the Pritchett building. Luke Nolfa, our Youth Director, and a few teens will give directions. We could use a parent in each room to make sure it doesn't get too crazy! Kids will get an egg in each room and recycle the plastic eggs into my basket to use for next year on their way out. Bring a sack or basket.
11:15 Service in the Church
The church will be closed through April 6th.
Children's Church and Formation resumes on April 7th.

RESOURCES for HOLY WEEK
The Scottish Bible Society has a wonderful resource called Wonder Walks , a series of eight walks designed to help families explore the Easter story and prompt conversation. I'll have copies for you to have up near the Donkey and at Formation classes.

Exploring Holy Week with our Bodies. PreK -2nd ish
There are tons of videos, but our kids tend to like these the best. You can find videos for each day and some tell more than the others, so watch them first and decide which ones you want to use.
