Hello Families!

"Breathe on us, O BREATH. At our beginning and our end, you are with us and within. In the beginning…the BREATH of God hovered above the waters…calling creation into being. From the dust of the ground, God formed the human and b-r-e-a-t-h-e-d… I will put my breath in you…and you will live. And it was so. Life is in the breath, the BREATH of God. Breathe on us. The dust returns to the earth that gave it, and the breath returns to God who breathed it. At our beginning and our end, you are with us and within. Breathe Your breath on us, O BREATH."

Kathy Culmer, D. Min.

From Forward Movement's Advent Word

There is so much I love about this image and meditation!

  • being loosened, or winnowed (recent Advent Word), from all that keeps us still, that keeps us from planting ourselves, that keeps

us from new life.

  • the feeling of being wrapped in God's presence with every breath I take, from beginning to end:

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,

Christ within me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,

Christ on my left, Christ on my right.

  • and that my life belongs to God, who breathed me into existence.

The kids might have taught you our Elevator Breaths or you might have seen our Candle Breaths at the St. Nicholas Service. You might have heard or felt how everything gets quiet and time seems to hover ever so slightly. It is a Holy Moment, a pause where we can became aware of God's presence in us. When we slow down and notice our breathing, our whole body gets calm and our mind gets centered on this very moment. That is my wish for you this season - To breathe deeply, live in this moment, and notice God's breath in you.

Breathe deeply.

Breathe in God's goodness.

Breathe in Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love this Advent season.

Rest in God's gift to us this Christmas.

God incarnate comes to live with us in that first breathe Christ takes.

Peace,

Kathy
