Dear Families,

Pet Blessing always fills my soul with joy! So much love is vibrating in the room between pet owners and beloved pets, animal lovers enjoying the breadth of animals present, and creation enthusiasts of every kind enjoying this small piece of God's masterpiece. Maybe all the "naughty pets" stayed home, but all God's creations seemed to get along pretty peacefully! We even had a few come to Formation classes which happened to be about Noah's Ark and God's Promise.

I think nature, animals, and all of creation are healing to our spirits. We just have to be intentional about getting out in it or amongst it. Yesterday, my husband was leaving for work when he ran back inside yelling for me to come outside. Now, at our house, this doesn't frighten me because someone is always yelling "Come look at the moon" , or "come look at this spider" or "come look at this flower that just popped". So I lazily said I will be out in a minute, to which he replied, "You have to see this spider web". By the time I got out there 10 minutes later, my husband was gone, the web was gone, and I was bummed! Luckily, he had taken a picture and sent it to me in case the spider ate up her web (as they do in the morning) before I got there. You may not be able to see that the attaching threads are in the shape of a cross to the nearby trees and lawn, with a beautiful, perfect circle in the middle and some "pointer"lines going out from the center. The image that popped to my mind was the circular liturgical calendar that we use in the Episcopal church.

Suddenly, I was overcome with the feeling that God holds all time and all time is holy. There is a divine rhythm to our seasons and year. A perfect reminder to slow down and find/notice God throughout the days and in all the ways. God speaks to us all the time and in all kinds of ways if we just learn to listen and see.

If you are heading to Kanuga, look for God.

If you are hiking somewhere in Atlanta, look for God.

If you are in your own backyard, look for God.

Peace ,

Kathy

KANUGA

Friday-Sunday, Oct. 3-5

(At Church, nursery as usual,

No Children's Church or Formation)

Bring your warm clothes, a water bottle, tennis/hiking shoes for walking in the woods, a flashlight, and don't clean out your car before you come (the Scavenger Hunt always asks for things that have been riding in your car for months :) ). The Children's program on Saturday from 9-11:45 will teach your children some Faith Practices they can do to make that "mustard seed of faith" grow bigger and bigger.

If you are in Atlanta this Sunday, there will be nursery as usual, but no Children's Church, Children's Formation, or Youth Formation. Pray for us as we travel and we will hold you in our hearts as we worship in NC.

Pet Blessing at New Realm Brewery

October 18, 11 am to 1 pm

We are joining our partners at VCA Pets are People Too (a local vet), Lifeline Animal Project (pet adoption), and New Realm Brewery to celebrate God’s creation with our neighbors on the beltline. Bring your family, friends, and pets, and enjoy a great lunch on the patio. We had a blast meeting folks and their pets last year. We need folks to volunteer to meet and greet and set up/take down things, so email me if you are able to come. Kathy Roberts
